Who is the DJ Console 4-Mx for?
With a brushed steel finish this small-yet-fully-capable console is for everyone. The good thing about the Hercules DJ Console is the fact that it’s actually aimed at the professional DJ but because it’s so simple to use we see the part-time DJ, bedroom DJ and even the clueless novice reaping the benefits from the 4-Mx. The mobile aspect will also appeal to those who mix music on the move. House parties, halls of residence, clubs… the DJ Console is you.
First impressions count… When you first see the size of the box that houses the 4-Mx you’ll be forgiven for thinking the unit itself was massive. Open the politely packed package and you’ll find the Console in its carry case ready to be musically manipulated. When it’s completely unfurled that’s when you’ll realise it’s actually a petite product that is both light and well designed. Another thing you’ll notice is the jog wheels are of a decent size and easily allow you to control the tunes. With the VirtualDJ software included (which didn’t take too long to figure out), tracks are very easily mixed and blended, after a little setup time of course.
Spec -
Portable dimensions - 15.75” x 9.8” in size, it’s completely portable while still providing enough space for mixing with all of the controls that’s comfortable -
3 clearly distinct sections - To make it very intuitive to switch between using analogue DJ gear and mixing on a computer, the upper surface of the console is divided into 3 clearly distinct sections which reproduce a set of 3 separate mixing devices: 2 decks and 1 mixing console. - Weight 2kg - Light as a feather… only difference is a feather can’t be used as a virtual deck. - VirtualDJ software included - The easy to use software will have you dropping classics in no time. - USB 2 port - Link up to your PC/ Mac and get jammin’. A nice touch as well is that its USB powered, so that reduces the amount of wires you have to look out for.
Summary After a quick initial setup – some units have taken much much longer – we had the 4-Mx up and running. Intertwining between Skream and Modestep (and back again) we truly went In For The Kill. With backlit buttons, crisp design and responsive jog wheels (4.7 inches in diameter) – which gave us the ability to control, scratch and blend our MP3s – Hercules have hit the nail on the head when it comes to professional portability.
The Hercules DJ Console 4-Mx is available for £399.99 RRP. For more information check hercules.com/uk/DJ-Music
