He’s no newcomer to the scene having been in the hip hop/grime world for years with acts like Wizzy Wow and Chipmunk previously under his label and engineering for the likes of Wiley and Scorcher he’s far from a stranger but it’s only been over the past year or so that 25 year old Random Impulse has began carving out his own genre made up of pure fire lyrics over an electric guitar base. Now having been out in Hollywood mixing it up with the music industry he tells Nardene Scott he’s back to stamp his new sound on the UK scene.

Since hooking up with fellow producer Rishi Rich a few years ago Mumzy Stranger has been honing his skills as a producer moving on from the old school garage days and into a more diverse sound mixing dancehall and RnB with pop to create a more mainstream sound now following the release of his single Fly With Me Nardene Scott speaks to him about his upcoming album, working with Preeya Kalidas and his love for reggae and garage.
There’s been a trail of regional MC’s coming through this year, all pushing themselves into the forefront of urban music from R.I.O to Wariko to Lady Leshurr they are all proving that good music exists out of London. It’s this regional factor that also results in a different and fresh style to offer up to UK music fans whether that’s grime or dubstep or bassline it’s representing where they’re coming from and bringing in a whole different flavour, next up is Mancunian TJ Lyrics so Nardene Scott got in touch to find out what he’s all about.
The November issue of RWD is always massive; last year the About To Blow special had the likes of Tinie Tempah, Devlin and McLean (who have indeed blown) grace the cover, the year before we had Christina Milian (the face of Rockstar Games’ Midnight Club LA) and in 2008 we had the amazing Estelle. This year’s no different as Mr Won't Go Quietly himself, Example, talks about being a model, how his year’s been since Watch The Sun Come Up came out, what essentials he needs on tour and much much more…
Last week hip hop royalty Rev Run aka Joseph Simmons stopped off in London on his press tour to promote his new fashion line and also had a little party at a swanky club in Mayfair. Nardene Scott caught up with him at his temporary spiritual home, The Hempel Hotel (there were audio scriptures in the toilets) to ask him any and everything from the evolution of hip hop and what’s in his essential record collection to the success of his children and getting back into the booth.
The name Stig Of The Dump is a name in the UK hip hop scene that has resonated over recent years. Brash and callous with his opinions he probably doesn’t give two squirts of p*** about what you, me or anyone else thinks. A true ‘Northern Soul’, Stig has been on his grind for years first gaining exposure on the UK rap battle scene, now three years after his critically acclaimed Homeless Microphonist EP he’s back with a new album Mood Swings which is out on 11 October. The lager loving MC talks to Jerry Gadiano about his ‘distain’ for Jeremy Kyle and (th)UGG(ly) boots, working with underground hip hop legend RA The Rugged Man and making ‘F*** You Music’.

Her last video Oh Boy has racked up over 150,000 views on You Tube (and we all know why) but this week Shardinay took things further when she released a new video You Baby which she was actually putting together when Nardene Scott did this interview way back in the summertime so we’ve dragged this interview back out after dismissing it a few months ago now we’ve realised that she’s actually being serious about continuing to persue music.
Ben, Dan and Ross from Northampton-bred Fenech-Soler (Andy was apparently ill) speak to RWD’s Office Cam [RWDmag.com/tag/office-cam] about their debut album – which is OUT NOW – and how they’d describe the band. They also talk us through their levels of professionalism (not everyone can remember their instruments you know) their fashion game (Dan has ‘acquired’ a Vivienne Westwood number from a shoot especially) and they review some singles; Skepta’s Cross My Heart, Scorcher’s It’s My Time and Chromeo’s Hot Mess…
