The London Olympics are under six months away and adidas are ramping up their heritage style with their 1984 inspired Team GB drop.

As official Team GB partners, adidas are planning an incredible 2012 to mark what is already feeling like a general celebration of the city and its sport culture. Their sick new drop references the first time the brand sponsored the British sporting elite at The Olympics, way back in 1984 at the Los Angeles games.

In a nostalgic nod to the successful Olympic year, adidas Originals have released an epic archive collection that takes direct inspiration from the original pieces worn by Gold medal heroes Daley Thompson, Sebastian Coe and Tessa Sanderson, with Daley Thompson’s decathlon-winning #398 jersey the centre-piece.

The Archive Team GB Originals collection, in keeping with the official competition wear of Games gone by, continues to feature red, white and blue taping detail. Every piece of apparel includes the distressed iconic Originals Trefoil logo and the Team GB flag, giving the range the official stamp of Team GB authenticity.

Consisting of just six pieces of apparel and four pieces of footwear, the classic #398 T Shirt, adapted from the jersey Daley Thompson wore at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games , is the hero piece of the collection, complete with Great Britain insignia and multi stripe execution. Other highlights of the apparel include classic white double-knit firebird track top, with red and blue detailing, as well as the red, blue and white panelled windbreaker, in lightweight technical material.

Archive footwear offers 3 classic indoor sports styles in retro Team GB colourways: the Gazelle Indoor in dark indigo with white three stripe taping and scarlet inner, as well as in white with Team GB multi stripe execution; the Tobacco in airforce blue; and the ever classic Handball 5 Plug with Team GB colour-up.

The adidas Originals Archive Team GB collection came out this month. Apparel prices range from £40 to £80, and footwear prices range from £62 to £72.

adidas are on the lookout for the fastest amateur footballers in the UK with the help of their incredible new cyborg football boot miCoach.

But there is one universally accepted fact and that is; pace is king. adidas is scouring the nation for the fastest 11 amateur footballers in the land. After playing in a match or training session wearing a new pair of f50 boots powered by miCoach, you’ll be able to view your performance data including: average speed, top speed, distance covered and more. Then, you can upload the stats directly onto miCoach and compare them to other players across the country. The players who with fastest times each week will be rewarded with a place in the fastest team ever assembled.

The adizero F50 miCoach players who make it into the team will be given ultimate recognition for their efforts with personal advertisements appearing in press, online or pitch side hoardings at football matches across the country. Additionally, select winners will get the chance to put their speed to the ultimate test by meeting and competing against some of the fastest professional players in the premier league.

Urban sports specialists, The Street Team are set to host the biggest celebrity basketball tournament on December 18 at Brentwood Sports Centre, Essex. Not only will stars go back to back with each other on the court, they’ll be coached by the UK’s top ballers. Entry to adiSlam is free but a £5 charitable donation to the London Youth Support Trust will be expected from all the attendees.

Man of the moment Wretch 32 will be providing a special performance alongside other secret guest appearances. To mark the release of the incredible adiZero F50 miCoach football boots, adidas are installing the world’s first Virtual Footwear Wall in their flagship store on London’s Oxford Street.

One of the great innovations in football boot technology, the miCoach was unveiled in September [read all about it here] and in keeping with their technological advances, adidas are set to launch the world’s first Virtual Footwear Wall.

The VFW uses state of the art touch-screen and precision real-time 3D rendered products allowing customers to select footwear on a virtual shelf, pre-ordering in a fully immersive experience. The wall is fully interactive allowing you to rotate the football boot to look at the product from multiple angles, zoom in to see the finest detail and get additional product information as well as watching supporting video material.

The new adidas adiZero F50 miCoach football boot, which will feature on the VFW, is another technological breakthrough from the leading sports brand. The boot is equipped with an in-built miCoach chip enabling both professional and amateur footballers to analyse their speed, distance and work rate during a game.

The VFW is now available for customers to use from today in adidas’ flagship London store at 415-419 Oxford Street, where they can pre-order the hugely anticipated F50 adiZero football boot featuring miCoach, as worn by Lionel Messi.

Shoppers can complete their pre-order registration of the new boots by using a tablet manned by a sales assistant, arranging delivery to their home, or picking up their chosen product at the checkout at launch on November 14.
