Evisu Continue 20 Year Anniversary Celebrations WIth MATZU Collaboration

Be warned, these Evisu x MATZU jeans feature yellow polka-dots. You were warned.

Evisu celebrated their 20th anniversary last year and are continuing to mark the milestone with the latest acknowledgement of 20 Years of Making Rules: 20 Years of Premium Denim is a collaboration with Japanese artist Tomokazu Matsuyama, known simply as MATZU to produce the MATZU for Evisu Limited Edition Box Set.

The slim 2010 fit, unwashed selvage denim features a repetitive allover print which draws on vibrant yellow polka-dots and tonal eardrop shaped paisley. Each pair comes in a traditional Japanese packaging, an elaborate gift wrapping process with furoshiki cloth in various shades of blue along with a wooden box etched with Matsuyama’s famous motif of a Kirin. Said to be a Chimera-like creature that was half-dragon and half-giraffe, the Kirin played an auspicious part in Asian mythology and an important role in Japanese culture.  Accompany the MATZU jeans is a special Japanese fan printed with Matsuyama’s elaborated Kirin graphic on the front, a detailed timeline of Evisu’s 20 years on the back.

So, yeah, yellow polka dots.

MATZU For Evisu Jeans – Limited Edition Box Set are available now at Evisu flagship Boxpark store and evisu.com.
