AlunaGeorge cover our very weighty Style Issue...
Thanks for arriving at the first of this year’s Style issues. For those that don’t know, they’re biannual - our last being Louis Smith in October - and if you weren’t already aware these pages are perfect for those look- ing to up their garment game. This time around we have the pleasure of featuring forward-thinking pop pioneers, alunageorge. Both with their own unique look, when they’re not talking about #attractingFlies both aluna Francis and george reid are producing radio-friendly hits. To find out their secret we sent someone who always keeps up with the latest looks, deputy Editor Nardene Scott.
Not only are we bringing over 37 pages of fashion, we’re also breaking down the brands, trends and clothing-related content to cop (or avoid). From monochrome and print on print to the equally eye- catching “Street goth” it’s all here.
at this point, I’d love to say that I’m the best dressed in the rwd office and never afraid to break away from the norm (although, I admit my, as Nardene calls it, “ranger look” was a bit too far, but don’t watch that). If you are in the watching mood, I’m currently obsessed with Vine - which is full of both style and substance - so watch @dannywalker1 and @rwdmag on there instead.

New Era Launch MLB Personalisation Service at JD
New Era launch new personalisation service in JD across the UK in May.
New Era have announced the launch of a personalisation service for the brand's Major League Baseball branded caps in ten leading JD stores across the UK.
The service, which will be available for three consecutive weekends in May [full dates below] will give fans the first ever opportunity to have their name instantly embroidered onto a New Era cap, purchased in store that day.
At the point of purchase, consumers will be handed a customisation card outlining available colours, fonts and intended script (maximum of seven characters). Once the options have been selected, a complimentary embroidery session will be carried out in-store and will allow the consumer to walk away with a personalised cap to wear with passion and pride.
Debuting May 10 in Braehead Shopping Centre, Glasgow, and for a limited time only, New Era will allow fans to make a statement, and inspire them to say, “This is who I am” with an MLB customised cap by New Era.
Blog: Tea with Streetwear
Basil Burley writes the most conclusive report on the state of Streetwear in 2013, and he does it with a biscuit... MUST READ.
Success in streetwear is something we know about, which is conveyed to us through the machine. We see it every day, everyone who tries to exist in this industry is inspired by some phase of it. However success is not concerned with the problem of maintaining or bettering a scene, we seem to be obsessed with being successful in this scene despite it failing as a result. The inspired masses sit and wonder on how to fit in in the environment of success that nobody fits into exactly. Success depends on the communication of favour of the common decisions of people, it is the way we have decided to teach ourselves about how to be in the race. What we teach is the success that we know and the success that we know I must mention is not doing us any good. I challenged it and stopped running that race a long time ago. I will not overlook the negativity and blow up the positive, instead this is where I perceive things are going.
