Nike Challenge Everyday Athletes To Find Your Greatness

With the world's elite athletes putting on a show up the road this summer, Nike want you to Find Your Greatness.

While we're enjoying a major campaign not built around a Twitter hashtag [death to the hashtag?], we're also pretty into the message coming from Nike's Find Your Greatness slogan, which, in a summer of absolute elite sporting achievement, is calling on the everyday athletes who stive to excel on their own terms to achieve their uniquely defined moment of greatness.

We'd like to think, for whatever reasons, that Britain is a more active and engaged sporting nation now than it ever has been, with most of us fairly aware of our fitness and skill levels. Should this summer serve a greater purpose to us islanders, then inspiring us to push ourselves beyond our previously realised best, should be it.

This is something RWD have been focused on during the build-up to The Games, with our RDCY partnership acting as a great representation of our desire to promote and harness great physical achievements from seemingly "normal" young people. Whether you're improving your own form in the school football team or pushing yourself to ride more than you drive, 2012 feels like the year of the everyday athlete.

This first film from the Find Your Greatness campaign [below]  broke this afternoon and will be supported with a full global takeover on YouTube tomorrow before appearing on TV in 25 countries from Friday,

Nike are supporting their Find Your Greatness campaign through their innovative Nike+ Running, Nike+ Basketball, Nike+ Training and Nike+ Fuelband tools, which are enabling everday athletes around the world to measure their performance and inspire them to keep pushing. The 8.5million global members will be mobilised through a series of digital missions on August 12 to mke it the most active recorded day ever.

People who engage in the missions will be encouraged to share their activity and achievements through social media and this will then be displayed on the Nike+ Fuelstream - a dynamic online stream of imagery and consumer comments. They will also be elevated through Nike’s own social channels @nike, @nikeuk, @niketraining, @nikerunning, @nikebasketball, which will encourage users with @ replies and motivation, and ultimately help stimulate and drive users to achieve their greatness.
