It was strongly rumoured last week that Nike had secured the deal to design and produce the England football team's kits from Spring 2013 and today The FA confirmed the deal.
The deal marks the end of The Football Association's partnership with Umbro who produced the England team's kits for 51 of the last 60 years. FA General Secretary Alex Horne [nah, us either] offered "I am delighted that The FA has secured this new wide-ranging and comprehensive partnership with Nike."
The deal, which The FA have called a "substantial investment" will see funds pumped back into the English game at all levels. We've already made a bid for sponsorship of the office 5-a-side team and we're confident of a positive outcome.
The move comes in the wake of Nike's announcement that they plan to divest Umbro, which it took private in 2008. Manchester City also recently announced that its partnership with Umbro will be replaced by a new deal with Nike next season.
