Ahead of his set at our 10th anniversary celebrations Nardene Scott speaks to Mistajam about his sick new mixtape, Throw Your Dubs Up as he heads up the M6 for the first night of deejaying for the legend that is Snoop Dogg on tour.

So are you looking forward to the tour and how did you get on board with Snoop?

Basically what’s Snoop has asked me to do is come and play dubstep (laughs) so you know my background won’t allow me to just play dubstep, especially Deejaying for a hip hop legend but for me it’s just a good chance to be able to play to an arena crowd.

How did that relationship come about because you also hooked up for Throw Your Dubs Up which has been doing a madness online this week?

It was all Snoop to be honest. He came over to the UK at the start of this year, heard my radio show and really liked it. I mean he’s been a fan of dubstep for years he did that Snoop Dogg Millionaire track and from hearing the show he invited me on tour. Then he said look we’ve got the concept for a mixtape and we’d like to work with you on it.

So you picked everyone from the UK side of things for the mixtape?

Yeah pretty much, the US side of the mixtape is Snoop and his people so a lot of the American MC’s that are on it are all signed to Doggystyle or people like Goldie Loc from the Eastsidaz and obviously the Dogg Pound. But the producers that are on there, are UK and also the Be Like Me track, that’s P Money, Pro Green, D Double, etc. that’s basically what I’ve been able to put together.

It’s good to see people like Snoop and D Double E on the same track because we know Snoop was a fan of his already?

Exactly! That was the thing for me, I remember being at the bus stop when I was in primary school listening to Doggystyle and now I’m supporting him on tour and I’ve just done a mixtape with him.

So did you actually head out to America to get Throw Your Dubs Up done?

No, it was all done using the internet. What I did was as soon as we had the discussion to do the mixtape I approached pretty much every everyone I knew in dubstep that I like and that I rate and got them to send me a beat and picked my favourite of those. I put them in a dropbox and the American’s had access to it. I must of sent over 50 or 60 beats to choose from and they chose their favourites and that’s what they recorded.

So have you got any plans to tour out there in America?

I went over there a couple of weeks ago, I’ve got a couple of connects there so went over there and did a rekkie but America is definitely a place where I would really love to go and DJ. I know a lot of my peers are doing it at the moment, Annie Mac absolutely loves it out there, people like Caspa and Skream & Benga, so I hope next year will be the year that I finally get to play.

So what else can we look forward to then since earlier this year you went into producing releaasing the Donaeo & Giggs track?

Well I’m trying to, I started off as a studio engineer and producer back when I was thirteen so I’ve always been interested in production. I hope to maybe learn a little bit more, I’m making beats regularly but if it just isn’t of a quality to put out there, to be honest if I did put something out there it wouldn’t be under the name of Mistajam. So you know you might already be raving to some of my tunes and you just don’t know! I love my job at radio, I absolutely adore broadcasting but I’ve already got my own project Speakerbox and that will all be kicking off properly next year, this is just the soft launch. The stage one is basically making sure that everyone is aware of this name and that’s been done with the mixtape.

Do you have any favourite tracks from the mixtape?

I really like what Goldie Loc did on the tune Nuke Town I think that’s really really hardcore, you’ve gotta have that menacing voice, proper gangsta tales with that beat. Obviously I love Be Like Me because it was me that was sitting at my kitchen table at 3am mixing down the vocals and getting them over to America. Just being able to make that happen was a big thing for me so those are probably my two favourites at the moment but everytime I’m listening to the mixtape I’m picking more.

Any last words?

Just keep listening to the radio show!

You can get the mixtape from Speakerbox and keep up to date with the dubstep fanatic on Twitter

This Week In Twitpics we’ve got the real guide to the London bus, Lewis Hamilton’s attempted breakfast, Waka Flocka Flame’s new producer, a naked man having the worst day of his life and a whole lot more.

@adrian_read: I like it that TFL feel the need to explain how a bus works to those people who rode the “seventy-free”

This diagram is missing a few markers, like the yellow tag pointing to the urine on bottom back-seat, the orange tag pointing to the vomit on the top back-seat and of course the brown tag pointing to the dog mess smeared across the window. We love you London busses!

@LewisHamilton: Healthy breakfast 2 start the day!

You can arrange a plate at a fancy restaurant that only F1 drivers can afford to frequent but you’re not convincing us that plate of…what is that? Tooth paste? Tooth paste and Mighty White bread? That’s not breakfast.

@swissworld: Did u lot see the pics I tweeted yesterday loool…birthday suit guy outside colly?

If this isn’t the worst day of this fella’s life then we really don’t want to know what was.

@TherealNihal: Oh no! What do you think i said to @jaysean to get this reaction?

Michael Owen told Rio Ferdinand that guys like them can’t be standing on chairs, both men sustained hamstring injuries while shooting this team photo. Rio’s came climbing off the chair, Michael’s came tying his laces.

The man pulling that rickshaw is a gardener by day and as much as it looks like he’s smiling in this picture, we happen to know for a fact he’s just uttered the most viscous swear-word in the English language and shortly after the shot he attempted to fly-kick Bar Refaeli in the back. She dodged the kick and hit him with a fire-ball conjured through supreme focus and a curse handed down to her by a witch-doctor while fighting in Vietnam. They don’t call them Super Models for nothing.

How happy does Skepta expect Taxi drivers to make him do you think? Mr Addison Lee, can you pick me up and perform a one man rendition of the songs from Bugsy Malone? Thanking you please.

What have bitches been doing to Rita Ora? Tell us Rita! We’ll sort it.

@jaybothroyd: Keith curle ………..!!!!

While Jay Bothroyd wants us to focus on his impression of QPR assistant manager Keith Curle, we can’t help but be drawn to the guy in the background who we are lead to believe is a professional footballer. Either that or he’s a weirdly dressed door-man.

@jamaledwards: I met @wossy back when I worked in Topman ages ago. Where I was then and where I am now is crazy!

When Jamal Edwards met Jonathan Ross. Is that Jonathan Ross? He looks more like Dale Winton in those later episodes of Supermarket Sweep when he was allowed to dress himself. Jamal, you should have directed him back to Topman.

Mr_Chids: @dannywalker1 begged me to buy him some new footwear… Lemon Meringue kicks … #seriously #peaktimes

Say what you will about the trainers, the socks are Swag in cotton-form.

@Joshoshomusic: If this doesn’t encourage wenger to sign me I dunno what will!!!

We’re not sure what hugging that cravat wearing geezer’s got to do with Arsené Wenger but Josh Osho’s got dreams. We love dreams.

@Nardenescott: Last time @dannywalker1 took a bullet now its over to @PXLtweets loool

Rather than focus on where Danny took that bullet *cough* we’ll focus on our Art Director Dacre Bracey’s late entry for England’s 100 metre team for London 2012. Usain Bolt’s going to beat whoever we send so he might as well.

This Week In Twitpics we’ve got Rick Ross and Kim Kardashian’s Mensa meeting, Roll Deep’s biology lesson, Amir Khan’s Scarface obsession, plenty of Carnival fun and a whole lot more.

@KimKardashian: Bonded w Rick Ross 2nite! @RobKardashian wants 2 b his hype man Hes so jealous he didn’t come 2 VMA’s

Where were you when the great meeting of the minds occurred at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2011? “Totally!” offered Kim Kardashian, “Uhhh” Rick Ross retorted “So hot” Kim nodded “Bawse” Ross agreed.

@AmirKingKhan: Say hi to my world title belts

Hi Amir Khan’s World Title Belts! Also a big hello to the framed Scarface poster on Amir’s wall with absolutely no context. We like that film too Amir, maybe not that much but whatevs.

@paraicobrien: 154 arrests at #carnival over 2 days, not including this one

Very rarely on This Week In Twitpics do we find a Twitpic that we think is 100% perfect and could not be improved upon with a witty remark. This Twitpic is flawless.

@JackWilshere I was testing out the 3D tv’s in currys today haha so cool

Jack Wilshere was actually watching his team Arsenal’s 8-2 humiliation at the hands of Manchester United, no Jack, Armand Traoré doesn’t understand the offside rule in 3D either.

@JmeBBK: ANYONE FOR A KWATTER POUNDER!?

We’re trying to workout whether a Quater Pounder burger is a misspelled Quarter Pounder Burger or an Equator Burger, which would be a burger based on the food enjoyed by countries on the equator, whatever that may be. More importantly though, is it a burger or a Pizza? This sign is marketing genius, we’ve got questions and the answers are only £1 away.

@BrattOnline: Omg somebody help!!!!! My dads cat did this : ( I’m home alone, what do I do, where the f*ck is it’s head : (

Mz Bratt should be less concerned by the state of the cat-savaged rodent on her dad’s carpet and more concerned by where that creature’s head’s gone!

@TwinTings: *BREAKING NEWS* 2Pac is alive & at Carnival.

Typical Tupac! Fresh from his sandy Cuban hideaway where he’s been resting up since his 1996 “Shooting” he’s back in London for Notting Hill Carnival. For serious though, when Tupac died in 1996, so did that bandana, it’s 2011 kids, must do better.

@j2klive: Team! Team! Team!! Hahahahaha

Scratchy, Manga and Brazen pose to represent the three stages of human evolution. Obviously Scratchy is impersonating homo-erectus, the early stages of man, not a lot of people know this but that’s when we first learned to make Sunglasses. We are a sexy creature. No erectus.

@rihanna: #boatsANDhoes

Rihanna’s cold-blooded, her ring is actually blinging from the camera flash, she gave her friends rings she found in a cereal box, that is ice sponsored by Kellogs.

@TherealNihal: Here i am with @example earlier, if u were writing a newspaper headline for this picture what would it be?

We can’t confirm whether or not Nihal reads This Week In Twitpics but then, who doesn’t? Anyway, captioning photos is what we do. Hmmm, give us a second…ummmm, DJ Nihal refuses kiss from popstar Example in warehouse. Will that do? Danny? Hattie? Somebody? Screw it, go to press.

@RizzleKicks: You know we travel with styllleeee

Rizzle Kicks may be charting pop stars with MOBO nominations in the bag but nobody’s above squatting on the train with a coffee and a cramp. See that face? Cramp face.

@TheDappy: We been writing this 2nd Dappy single for the last 4 days, but I’m officially just about to go in da booth and record it.

You know when Dappy’s in the zone, his eyes light-up! He also writes his lyrics in a year planner apparently, he also records his song in a tent.

@JmeBBK: WHAT!?

It’s not Word With Friends that has refused to accept JME’s use of the word “nang”, it’s 2011. Years can be so choosey when it comes to the use of slang words. Innit star?

@adrian_read: Where am I?

We give up! Lego factory? LEEEGGOOO!!!!!

@DannyWalker1: Lolololololololol who actually keeps & uses a commemorative Royal wedding Oyster card #whodoesthat @mr_Chids that’s who

Our very own Chidi Ubani was so into the Royal Wedding that he actually sent off for this commemorative Oyster Card. Only 2,000 were ever created and he keeps it on his desk for inspiration.

@Mr_Chids: @dannywalker1 first shoot ever…what is going on with that fro

Fresh from his humiliating outing as a Royal Wedding enthusiast, Chidi went deep into the archive to find RWD Deputy Editor Danny Walker mean, mean, mean, mean-mugging. Revenge is sweet.

Inspired by Owen ‘No Knees’ Hargreaves’ shock deadline day signing by Manchester City, we’ve been scratching our heads trying to come-up with a English football Injury prone all-star team.

Goalkeeper: Chris Kirkland

There weren’t many other options to play in goal for Legs XI, as goalkeepers only tend to suffer the constant string of aggravating injuries Chris Kirkland has endured well into their 40s. Unfortunately Kirkland, who as a youngster was so highly rated that Liverpool paid £6Million for his services as a 20 year old ten years ago, back complaints mean he will almost certainly never add to his solitary England cap, a 45 minute cameo in a friendly against Greece way-back in 2006.

Left Back: Fábio Aurélio

Liverpool fans will tell you that a fit Fábio Aurélio is as good as any Left Back you could ever wish to see. The rest of the world can barely recall seeing him play. The Brazilian who is let down by a variety of body parts, from his ankle, to his hamstring and everything between was even released by Liverpool in 2010, only to be re-signed later that summer by legendary Kop boss Roy Hodgson. Aurélio continues to make the most of the medical facilities at Anfield with Hodson long-gone.

Centre Back: Ledley King

One of the most gifted defenders of his generation, Ledley King was cited by no less than Thierry Henry as the player he had most difficulty playing against, built with the strength of a Lucio and blessed the graceful touch of a Rio Ferdinand, who knows where Ledley would be today had his 13 year career at Tottenham Hotspur been so hampered by injury. On the rare occasion King turned out for England he was lauded, but revelations that the defender’s body could not handle training two days in a row and couldn’t handle two matches in a week mean we’ll always be left guessing about exactly how much he could have achieved. It’s still a rare pleasure to see Ledley play for Spurs.

Centre Back: Jonathan Woodgate

Jonathan Woodgate didn’t make it easy on himself as a young player, the infamous court case clouded his early England chances but that didn’t stop both Newcastle United and Real Madrid paying top dollar for the cultured performer, only for both spells to be seriously damaged by injury set-backs. A move to hometown club MIddlesbrough in 2006 reignited his spark enough for Tottenham Hotspur to come calling, but the curse struck again as he struggled for appearances in the final two years of his contract. Having signed a deal with fighting Stoke City this summer, there is hope yet for Woodgate to prove his undeniable talent in the Premier League but at 31 years-old he’s unlikely to ever hit the heights he’d once seemed destined to.

Right Back: Wes Brown

Sir Alex Ferguson rates him as one of the best defenders he’s ever worked with and let’s be honest, his trophy cabinet doesn’t scream failure but if Wes Brown was so good, imagine how great he could have been had he not suffered a succession of long-term injuries throughout his formative years. Brown signed for Sunderland this summer and put in a Man of the Match performance to keep Liverpool quiet in his first game for the club so there is still hope.

Right Midfield: Kieron Dyer

Kieron Dyer must have smashed a lot of mirrors as a youngster because the luck that surrounds the former England winger is genuinely astonishing. Rising to prominence as a teenager at Ipswich, it Newcastle United splashed a whopping £6Million on the 19 year-old only to have him hit-form, then break-down, fight his way back, hit-form and then break down. Just as famous for his extra-curricular troubles including a fight on the pitch with team-mate Lee Bowyer and leaked orgy footage, a four year spell with West Ham resulted in only 30 appearances and even had owner David Sullivan offering that Dyer would be doing himself and the club a favour by calling time on his playing career. Dyer secured a free-transfer move to QPR earlier this summer but was left in a crumpled heap inside the first three-minutes of his first match.

Centre Midfield: Abou Diaby

Abou Diaby joined Arsenal from Auxerre with a massive reputation in 2006 and with a huge 2006/07 season ahead of him, the lanky Frenchman was chopped down by Sunderland’s Dan Smith breaking his leg. The long road to recovery appears to be never ending for the France international who has impressed when he’s been allowed a run of first-team games, which remains a rarity. Question marks surfaced over Diaby’s mental strength surrounding his injury when he was sent-off for reacting to a poor Joey Barton challenge last season with Arsenal 0-4 ahead, a game which they infamously went on to draw 4-4.

Central Midfield: Owen Hargreaves

The captain of Legs XI, less than a week ago Owen Hargreaves would have incited apologetic groans from most football fans around the world. Since signing for Manchester City though, the former England Player of the Year is fast becoming a figure of fun having rejected a deal at West Brom, which would offered him a better chance of proving his fitness on the pitch, the former Bayern Munich midfielder took the money and the Up Yours to Manchester United by joining the noisy neighbours. Undeniable talent aside, Hargreaves only managed 27 appearances in his four years at United.

Left Midfield: Jimmy Bullard

Cheeky chappy Jimmy Bullard made it to the top the hard way, having fought his way through the lower leagues of English football with Gravesend & Northfleet, Peterborough United and Wigan Athletic, it was at Fulham were the midfielder’s injury problems became apparent and following a club record £5Million move to Premier League new-boys Hull City the situation worsened. A nightmare two year spell at the Yorkshire club was ended last month when his mega contract was terminated. Ipswich Town could present the opportunity for an Indian summer for Bullard but with his injury record, we wouldn’t bank on it.

Striker: Michael Owen

Michael Owen was England and Liverpool’s assassin from a very tender age, released from his leash to terrorise defences good and bad, Owen was one of the most feared strikers on the planet once upon a time. The whippet was probably over-used as a youngster though and following the injury hit late years at Anfield, an unsuccessful spell at Real Madrid was followed by an absolutely torrid time with injuries at Newcastle United. Now happy to warm the bench and massage table at Manchester United, the formerly explosive Owen is a shadow of his Ballon d’Or winning self.

Striker: Louis Saha

If injuries were bad hair-cuts then Louis Saha would be Louis Saha and having fought his way to a starting spot at Manchester United, the striker couldn’t keep himself fit and despite fan favourite status at Old Trafford was allowed to leave for Everton in 2008 for what was rumoured to be the Premier League’s first Pay as You Play contract. Saha scores when he plays but he continues to struggle for games as he picks up the most frustrating injuries. David Moyes will be preying for a clear 30 game run this season as he runs extremely low on forwards.

We were glued to Jim White on Sky Sports News at 11PM yesterday as most of the Premier League frantically slapped together deals before the Transfer Window slammed shut and we want to know who you think did the best deal.

Sir Alex Ferguson was one of very few Premier League managers with his feet-up drinking a cup of tea as Deadline Day chaos unfolded live on Sky Sports News yesterday. The final day of the Transfer Window always brings its fair share of drama [read our Top 10 Premier League Last Minute Signings here] with yesterday bringing with it a whole array of shock signings. Craig Bellamy was thought to be headed towards a return to English football’s second tier at the start of the summer and as the Window slammed shut yesterday he’d agreed to join boyhood club Liverpool for the second time in his career, Mikel Arteta was set for another campaign at Everton when a deal reportedly first discussed last summer was revised and in the final minutes of the Window found himself at Arsenal and then of course there’s the totally random signing of Owen Hargreaves by money-bags Manchester City, bizarre in so many ways, not least because it was rushed through yesterday despite there being no Transfer Window for unattached players.

We’ve gone through the list of deals sorted during the Transfer Window pressure yesterday and have picked the 10 we think are the most significant but we want you to tell us how significant you think they’ll prove to be by voting for The Best Deadline Day Signing below.

Craig Bellamy [Manchester City To Liverpool For Free]

His career in limbo, many speculated that Bellamy was on the verge of packing in English football altogether in favour of a move to the MLS, but one of the great Deadline Day stories unfolded as he rejoined the club he felt he had unfinished business with, having left after one season in 2007.

Scott Parker [West Ham To Tottenham Hotspur For £6Million]

Last season’s Football Writers Footballer of the Year, Scott Parker was always destined to leave relegated West Ham this summer but had to wait until the last day of the Transfer Window before Spurs made their move, having previously stated they didn’t see enough fiscal incentive to do the deal. Parker is back in the Premier League and back among the big-boys as he looks to form a Champions League quality midfield alongside Luka Modric, Rafael van der Vaart and Sandro while also staking a claim to a place in the England squad ahead of next summer’s European Championships.

Mikel Arteta [Everton To Arsenal For £10Million]

Long-touted as a potential Arsenal signing, Mikel Arteta looked set for another season at underachieving, underspending Everton when Arsené Wenger’s team finally made their move and having seen negotiations collapse early in the evening it was a rush to see the Spaniard’s transfer to the North London side completed and 11PM approached. Arteta replaces the departed Cesc Fabregas with the pressure to produce instantaneous.

Royston Drenthe [Real Madrid To Everton On Loan]

Royston Drenthe was one of the highest rated young players in the world when he moved from Feyenoord to Real Madrid in 2007 but found opportunities in the Spanish side’s first-team limited, leading him to a lean at Hércules last season. Can David Moyes get the explosive left-winger playing to his undoubted potential at Goodison Park this season? Something about a Royston Drenthe/ Leighton Baines left-side makes sense to us.

Scott Dann [Birmingham City To Blackburn Rovers For £6Million]

Scott Dann was a rumoured target for Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool at various stages of the summer but it was Blackburn Rovers who finally stumped up the cash to take him back to the Premier League from relegated Birmingham City. Blackburn have been short of quality already this season and the prospect of a Scott Dann/ Christopher Samba back-line could prove a troubling proposition for Premier league rivals.

Nicklas Bendtner [Arsenal to Sunderland On Loan]

The unmovable confidence of Nicklas Bendtner would have approached breaking-point this summer as moves to Champions League teams in Portugal, Germany and France reportedly collapsed. Luckily former coach Steve Bruce was ready to offer Bendtner the first-team football he so greatly craved with a season-long loan at Sunderland. Bruce and Bendtner previously worked together at Birmingham City where Bendtner first came to prominence, the Danish striker is also close to the coach because of a previous relationship with his daughter. Can Bendtner finally deliver on his undeniable potential in the North East?

Shaun Wright-Phillips [Manchester City To QPR For Unknown Fee Rumoured £2Million]

There’s something about English teams with rich foreign owners and their obsession with Shaun Wright-Phillips isn’t there? The pint-sized winger doesn’t take-up too much space but he does take up a significant chunk of the wage-budget. A fan favourite wherever he’s played, SWP could be that injection of class, pace and experience QPR need to stay in the Premier League.

Owen Hargreaves [Manchester United Released To Manchester City For Free]

Most Premier League coaches were slapping themselves for allowing Sir Alex Ferguson to steal the march on them by signing Owen Hargreaves in 2007 but a tragically injury affected spell saw the England international play a handful of games leading to his release this summer. A series of comedic YouTube videos proving his fitness caught the attention of West Brom and if reports are to be believed then Arsenal and Spurs may have looked again as the Window went on but it was the player stacking Manchester City who moved for Hargreaves in one of the most random deadline day signings. If Owen can stay fit and get playing though, he could well prove to be one of the all-time great free-transfers.

Peter Crouch [Tottenham Hotspur To Stoke City For £10Million]

We wouldn’t be surprised if you told us Rory Delap was involved in Peter Crouch’s contract negotiations yesterday, as the long-ball throwing Irish midfielder has no-doubt salivated at the prospect of launching a few at the 6′7″ striker since hearing of the deal. Crouch made Stoke his tenth club yesterday and Tony Pulis may just have secured the best deal of the Window with the redoubtable class of the striker adding more than just his ability to reach headers to the battling side.

Raul Meireles [Liverpool To Chelsea For £12Million]

Reports that Raul Meireles handed his transfer request into Liverpool ten minutes before the Transfer Window closed yesterday are likely to be hyperbole as the deal was miraculously confirmed before Big Ben called a halt to proceedings last night, one thing’s for sure though, Raul Meireles was never given the opportunity to prove himself at Liverpool last season and could prove the creative spark Chelsea have been looking for all summer. Meireles may well be Chelsea’s runner-up prize following their failed bid to sign Luka Modric but on the occasions the Portuguese midfielder has appeared for Liverpool this season he’s looked genuine class.

We’re going to keep you up-to-date with the top transfer rumours involving Premier League clubs on this epic Transfer Deadline Day.

Scott Parker [West Ham To Tottenham Hotspur for £6Million]

Scott Parker has been a Spurs player since West Ham were relegated in May, it’s just taken three months to persuade Harry Redknapp of the necessity to add the Football Writers Player of the Year to his squad, perhaps waiting for Luka Modric to make his previously expected £35Million move to Chelsea, with ‘Arry stating that Modric will remain at the club “one million percent, triffic” he obviously still sees a need for the 30 year old who he once said would not represent a good cost efficient transfer.

Rumour Rating: 5

Arsené Wenger managed to hold his nerve in the Transfer Window so far, to the detriment of his side, which have only managed one point from the first three games and were humiliated on a whole new scale by Manchester United on Sunday. Having seen World Class midfielders Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas depart The Emirates this summer, Arsenal are desperate to add quality in the middle of the park with long-term target Eden Hazard their preferred option. Only large bids will be respected by Lille who have already seen Gervinho depart for North London this summer before transfer target Park Chu Young skipped a medical at the French Champions only to show-up two hours later at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground.

With the news that Jay-Z and Beyoncé are expecting their first child, we take a look at how Hov’s grown from angry fatherless child the billionaire rapping about his unborn baby.

10. Jay-Z – Super Ugly

“Me and the boy A.I got more in common then just ballin’ and rhymin’,
Get it? More in Carmen?
I came in your Bentley back seat, skeeted in your jeep,
Left condoms in your baby seat”

Deep in his famous war with long-term rival Nas, Jay-Z recorded Super Ugly, a song so offensive his mother forced him to apologise, Specifically the God MC’s attack on the mother of Nas’ daughter showed a young Hov less than prepared for the maturity required to be a father. Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s relationship is rumoured to have started shortly after Super Ugly was released.

9. Jay-Z – You Must Love Me

“Since my date of birth, brought you nothing but hurt,
Played those video games, stole change from your purse,
Sat on the cold court bench until I was arraigned in your skirt,
I saw the pain in your face, still you maintained a smirk,
All you did was motivate me, don’t let them hold you back,
What I do? I turned around and I sold you crack,
I was a bastard for that, still I’m drowning in shame,
Just remember one thing now, you’re not to blame”

Buried away on Jay-Z’s most obscure album In My Lifetime Vol. 1, Hova opens up about a very tumultuous relationship with his mother Gloria Carter.

8. Jay-Z Ft. Scarface & Beanie Sigel – This Can’t Be Life

“It gets worse, baby momma’s water burst,
Baby came out stillborn, still I gotta move on,
Though my heart still torn, life gone from her womb,
Don’t worry, if it was meant to be, it’ll be, soon”

Over Kanye West production, Hov goes deep on the subject of a stillborn child, the father in Jay is starting to show through.

7. Jay-Z – Can’t Be Done Freestyle

“Pops got a liver disorder,
My whole living’s disordered,
And I just got his living room ordered”

Jay-Z reconciled with his long-lost father just before his passing and revealed on his freestyle over 50 Cent’s Can’t Be Done, he opened-up about buying a home for Adnes Reeves to spend his final days in.

6. Jay-Z – Moment Of Clarity

“Pop died, didn’t cry, didn’t know him that well,
Between him doing heroin and me doing crack sales,
With that in an egg shell, standing at the tabernacle,
Rather the church, pretending to be hurt wouldn’t work,
So a smirk was all on my face,
Like damn that man’s face is just like my face,
So pop, I forgive you, for all the sh*t that that I lived through,
It wasn’t all you fault homie, you got caught,
Into the same game I fought, that uncle Ray lost,
My big brother and so many others I saw,
I’m just glad we got to see each other, talk and re-meet each other,
Save a place in heaven for the next time we meet forever”

Following his father’s passing, Jay-Z opens-up about the final relationship between the pair on Eminem produced Moment Of Clarity.

5. Jay-Z – Soon You’ll Understand

“I told you to leave but you’re stubborn and you love him,
And no matter what despite all the f*cking and the cheating,
You still won’t leave him, now you’re grieving,
And I feel bad believe me, but I’m young and I aint ready and this aint easy,
Wasn’t fair to tell you to wait, so I told you to skate,
You chose not to, now look at the shit we’ve got to go through,
Don’t want to fight, don’t want to fuss,
You’re the mother of my baby,
I don’t want you to hate me, this is about us,
Rather me, I aint ready to be what you want me to be,
Because I love you I want you to leave, please”

Before he unofficially began his relationship with Beyoncé, Jay-Z considered his inability to commit and share his world with a female on 2000’s Soon You’ll Understand.

4. Jay-Z – Meet The Parents

“He can’t explain what he saw before his picture went blank,
The old man he didn’t think he just followed his instincts,
Six shots into his kin out of the gun,
N***as be a father, you’re killing your sons,
Six shots into his kind out of the gun,
N***as be a father, you’re killing your sons,
Meet the parents”

Jay-Z’s introspective story-telling on Blueprint 2’s Meet The Parents is often overlooked when the great rapper’s catalogue is discussed but the metaphorical story of the father and son raised apart and brought together in violence shows the maturity of a man with a growing understanding of what it is to be a role model.

3. Jay-Z Ft. Beanie Sigel – Where Have You Been

“I wanted to walk just like you,
Wanted to talk just like you,
Often mama said I looked to much and I thought just like you,
Wanted to drink millanips and smoke Newports just like you,
But you left me, now I’m going to court just like you,
I would say my daddy loves me and he’ll never go away,
Bullshit! Do you even remember December’s my birthday?”

One of Jay-Z’s most exposed moments, the Brooklyn don talks for the first time on record about the hurt he felt following the break-up of his parents and the anger he harboured towards his father.

2. Jay-Z – Beach Chair

“I’ve got demons in my past so I’ve got daughters on the way,
If the prophecy’s correct then the child shall have to pay,
For the sins of the father,
So I barter my tomorrows against my yesterdays and hope that she’ll be okay,
And when I’m no longer here to shade her face from the glare,
I’ll give her my share of Carroll’s daughter and a shiny new Beach Chair”

By 2006 the Jay-Z and Beyoncé baby rumours were an almost weekly occurrence and the introspective musings on his potential first-born over Chris Martin’s instrumental for the first time exposed a brooding Hov.

1. Kanye West & Jay-Z – New Day

“Sorry Junior, I already ruined ya,
Because you aint even alive paparazzi perusing ya,
Sins of the father make your life ten times harder,
I just want to take you to a barber,
Bonding on charters on the sh*t that I never did,
Teach you good values so you cherish it,
It took 26 years to find my path,
My only job is cut the time in half”

It’s not clear whether Jay-Z knew Beyoncé was pregnant when he recorded his verse on The Throne’s New Day but just over three weeks on from the album’s release Queen B announced at the MTV VMAs that the first couple of Hip Hop and RnB were expecting, based on this verse, Hov’s ready.

Fanta Jarjussey caught-up with Grime stalwart No Lay to talk about dancing, going mainstream, having fans in America, that beef with OG Niki and a whole lot more.

We’d planned to meet at Ealing Broadway and No Lay’s an hour late. I’ve got a bottle of Rosé waiting for her, which I fear will find itself resting in my liver as I start to contemplate departing without the interview I’d hoped for, before she turns up. Apologies are made and we have a quick girlie chat before starting the interview…

I haven’t seen you in like a year! Where have you been and what have you been up to?

Is that how long it’s been? Oh my God.

Yes, it has been a year! Tell me what have you been up to?

Is that how long it’s been? Oh my God! I’ve been up to so much like obviously when you was seeing me I was just coming back into the game. Took a break for a little piece obviously I’m a real person innit? So a lot of personal stuff was going on. I don’t really think you can do music to the best of your ability unless you squash certain burdens. All my burdens are squashed now.

Amen to that!

I’m back innit? Officially back in this game. And it’s hard; a lot of artists can’t really do that, like step out of the game for that long and be solidified so…yeah man.

Since, Unorthodox Daughter it all kicked-off for you, to this day people still go on about that track what happened back then to you and the rest of the crew and how are things different now?

Basically, there was a lot of creative differences between us yeah, a lot of creative differences. I mean when you’re a crew, you all have to take a step forward at the same time. You can’t like…do you know what I mean like if one person is stepping forward and then some people are lagging behind or whatever? Sometimes it causes friction and errm…Silver went away a couple times, you know what I’m saying it just got to the point where I was like Unorthodox, Unorthodox, Unorthodox and I repped Unorthodox so much that I forgot to rep myself do you see what I’m saying? And it just got to the point where I had to spread my wings and I had to fly. I still respect them, I still talk to G.Kid umm…I don’t really see Silver these days but I still respect him, I think he’s one of the greatest to ever do it out of the male spitters and I’m just solo baby, you know? But it wasn’t no big fall out.

Why did you start spitting in the first place?

Do you what it is? My dad is Jamaican and Cuban and my Mum’s Greek Cypriot. My mum grew up on…the kind of stuff my mum used to listen to was like Paul Weller, Duran Duran and that kind of stuff and my dad obviously Reggae and those kind of things but umm…I think like putting words together and my wordplay started off in secondary school with poetry like English and Drama were my favourite lessons but basically just putting words together, like it’s a bit deeper than music, like it started out on poetry, like learning how to put together words and I always used to smash that in class! Then after that I used to go to the youth wing, it was like a youth centre, I was around fourteen/ fifteen and just used to spray on DnB and stuff like that. That’s what I started on, like a lot of people will say yeah Grime or whatever, obviously Grime was what I came out on and that’s what people saw me on but I started spittin’ on DnB and Hip Hop and then obviously Grime but I spit on any genre, like I love all genres. If you look in my CD collection, it’s quite eclectic it has a lot of variety. I like Rock music, I like Hip Hop, I like grime, alternative music, everything but yeah started out Hip Hop.

You’re a dancer as well aren’t you?

[laughs hysterically]

No listen, I know that No Lay’s a dancer and I would like to see it…

Right, basically, I used to do ballet and tap [laughs]. This is so embarrassing.

Why is it embarrassing? Because you’re seen as a hard, tough, spitter?

It’s a bit different like anyone that’s on my BB they might have seen pictures of me like with my leg up in the air and all them things, like doing some mad poses but ballet and tap. My mum used to send me to a dance school, my dad used to dance with Charlie that guy that ran Pineapple Studios and Bonny Langford. I don’t know if you’ve heard of Bonny Langford but my dad used to dance for her before he fell ill and that so I really get it from my dad’s side. My dad used to do everything like break dancing and everything but obviously I’ve progressed now…I don’t really do ballet and tap. I got the flexibility of ballet but it’s more of a street thing now and…

I’m sure men will appreciate your flexibility of ballet…

[laughs] I’m sure my man appreciates it! But yeah, obviously as time goes by and I’m able to grow more, start doing mainstream videos, I really hope one day I’ll be signed when I’ll be able to do mainstream videos, I will incorporate the dancing into it.

So are you are going to surprise us with it and save the best ’til last?

Yeah! And because I sing as well and obviously I was singing before anything else.

A lot of people don’t actually know you can sing…

I know, but you’ve heard me.

Yeah of course I know that you can sing, very well but people out there haven’t heard a track where you’re singing.

Do you know what it is? It’s because I used to sing in church and that, I was singing before I ever started spitting but I came out of my comfort zone.

How old were you when you started singing?

About twelve but I’ve always loved to sing. Anyone who knew me when I was younger would tell you that but I started spitting and it was so hard, I was out of my comfort-zone with the singing side of things, I didn’t know how to incorporate it because the singing is so [pauses] when you hear me sing, it’s like the voice is so sweet and nice, it sounds totally different to when I rap. So it’s just about bringing the two together, but obviously that comes with growth. On my album, they’re gonna hear a lot of that, but I’m not a person that just wants to start singing and totally forget about rap. That’s not me I would like to do like more like a Lauryn Hill rap my verses, sing my choruses.

You love Lauryn Hill don’t you?

Yeah! I love her Because I think that she [pauses] a lot of people think she should’ve practiced what she preached, basically as in, she talks about don’t let man wreck you and she let a man wreck her. On her The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album she wasn’t preaching. She was saying look what’s happened to me. She was telling a story. That’s not preaching, preaching is don’t you do this and don’t you do that. She was saying learn from me girls man, because I’ve been messed about. To me that’s not preaching and I love any artist that can get on a song and bring tears to my eyes, to me that’s a real artist, forget all the hype and everything around it. Make hype tunes, I’ll love you for that as well, but can you take it to another side that you can touch my heart and bring tears to my eyes? That’s why I love Lauryn Hill.

If you had gun to your head and had to choose, who would you compare yourself to?

If I had to, I would say Nas and the reason why I say that is because I feel like he’s very lyrical and everything but he was underrated. That’s how I feel. Even though he brought out mainstream albums, he didn’t do a Jay-Z; do you understand what I’m saying? Then that’s how I feel right now, like I’m gonna be a Nas, do you understand what I’m saying? Like I might not be…I might not do what Jay-Z’s done, I’ll be a Nas and for me he was better innit? And that’s how I feel and I feel that the scene or whatever they suck onto girls and that that ain’t as good as me but sometimes it’s too real for them…sometimes and I just love stuff that he says like people fear what they don’t understand and hate what they can’t conquer and I feel like that all the time so yeah I’d have to say Nas.

The States seem to love you. Aside from all their tweets saying so, I remember last year, there was a pilot for a TV show being made and you were the artist the Americans loved the most. Has any of it made you think to yourself, fuck it, America are showing me love why am I staying here?

Basically, I’ve done the New York Times, It’s madness, basically I think it all started from the MySpace days, I used to get a lot of people messaging me from Brooklyn, now they tweet me…like they don’t even call me No Lay in Brooklyn, they call me the future [laughs]. That’s what they call me in Brooklyn basically and a guy called Body Bags; it’s craziness. Even when I put out the diss, it hit WorldStarHipHop and it hit The Source and I had so many people tweeting me it was a madness, but even before that people keep asking me Will you come over?. New Orleans, that’s another place that really like my music. It’s madness.

Tell me about this New York Time’s List you were on. How did you end up on there?

That New York Times was done like from the Run The Road days like Chantelle Fiddy sorted that out. I love her. To be quite honest Chantelle Fiddy has been about since, I’m talking early days like Unorthodox Daughter and she’s always shown me love, do see what I’m sayin? I feel like a lot of people forget about Chantelle Fiddy and what she’s done for the Grime scene. She did a lot for like me, Kano, Skepta, PR-wise, magazine-wise, she believes in me. She used to send me CDs of like Jean Grae. But yeah, I get so much people from America talking to me; they ask me constantly if I’m coming out. That show you were talking about earlier they chose me out of all the girls so I’m sure that says something innit [laughs].

So has it made you say hold on I’ve got love in the UK but America want to show me love so let me pack my bags and go?

If I had the means to go over there…

You’d pack your bags tomorrow?

Probably yeah.

Okay, an artist that recently reached out to you on a not so positive vibe is OG Nicki….Tell us what happened.

I’m gonna tell you. Basically what happened with her is someone tweeted something to her and said OG Nicki you are not the realest, No Lay is realest so I ReTweeted it and wrote at the end what’s wrong, why are you mad? Because I’m thinking, why is my name coming up? Then I’ve left it, not said nothing and the same girl who Tweeted it in the first place turned around and said don’t say nothing about No Lay, she ain’t said your name. That made me curious as in why she said that so I went and checked Nicki’s timeline and she was going off at the mouth. To be honest I don’t fear no one in this scene and she was talking about followers, I don’t know if you’ve seen that advert with the little boy who’s little brother bit his finger, that got millions of views now this girl is sitting on Twitter going I’m better than No Lay because of my twitter following and 700,000 views, but what I’m saying is your argument shouldn’t be with me it should be with the girl who Tweeted that you ain’t real No Lay is. She started speaking about how hard she is, this and that and all that crap and when I said listen, when it comes to this lyrical ting, I’m better than you, she said I will annihilate you when she said I will annihilate you…

That was it…

That’s it now. I said alright then, the proof’s in the pudding at the end of the day. If you’re gonna annihilate me let’s go to Semtex or something, let’s swing it out, no one was turning around and contacting us to do it and then I got a phone call from Jammer saying you lot can do it on Lord Of The Mics 3 so that’s where it went. He never started it, it was never a thing where we sent for her, she said that she will annihilate me, I told her to back her Tweet, it’s as simple as that. People wanna say Why you clashing her for? Because she’s young, no one said she was too young to shot her body, do you understand what I’m saying? So I said, Okay, let’s do it. We was supposed to do an interview yeah, all it was meant to be was an interview, so I’m hearing that she spat 16 bars for me in the interview, you’re trying to cheat now! You’re not waiting for Lord Of The Mics now, you’re trying to cheat! But when I heard that she spat 16 bars for me, I went home and wrote my bars and then I spat my bars for her, but jammer stopped me half way through, I didn’t get to finish it.

Jammer came late, if I was him I would’ve wanted to stop you from the first two bars alone but what happened after?

[laughs] It was gonna get documented anyway, whether it was radio or Lord Of The Mics, people were saying Jammer why you putting No Lay up to this? He didn’t put No Lay up to shit. She said she will annihilate me and I said prove it. In this game at the end of the day you can’t just say that especially her with her no ratings. I even said to her, Listen don’t indirect me and she said I’ll indirect you if I want and I was like That’s it! And another thing I wanna say; if you type into YouTube and make sure this is written in the interview OG Nicki disses, about ten gyal or so will come up that are dissing her. None of them made it to WorldStarHipHop, none of them made it to The Source and they’re all cussin her off. Why? It’s not nothing to do with her giving anyone a buzz. I laid it down properly and spoke the truth.

It did make it on The Source and World Star and it all kicked off.

You know what? It just got out of the hand. The video come out and the views started going mad, I got more views than her and then she tried to Tweet something about I took her off her high-horse, obviously she started to get vexed because people were Tweeting her. I had just over 4,000 followers at the time and she had like just over 20,000 something. Now; shouldn’t it be a thing where I get harassed since she’s got so many followers? It went the total opposite way. I started to feel bad for her and my brother said Don’t feel bad for her she said that your career’s dead, you’re dead and all this, she was running up her mouth.

How did you feel when Jammer came over and said No Lay I’m not letting you spit no more?

I feel like it speaks for itself at the end of the day. Why did you stop me?

Why do you think Wiley supports OG Niki?

I think that Wiley is a very smart guy and that’s all I’m saying.

How so?

Because You see Wiley, I’ve had my conversations with Wiley and I know what he thinks of me so it’s alright. Wiley Tweeted me and said for me not to clash her. Someone BBM’d me and said have you seen Wiley and jammer’s Tweets, where Wiley was saying to Jammer How you letting her clash her? And I said But Wiley when small prey try it with you, you skin ‘em because that’s what Wiley does. He’ll come when they try it with him and he’ll spin ‘em and then he Tweeted me and said to me I hear what you’re saying but I’ve got to try and save her from this, I don’t think that is good in the name of God NoLay and everyone started ReTweeting it and laughing.

So what’s next?

I dropped the I Am Legend free download mix tape in April, He Said, She Said: I Am Bad my EP of six tracks is basically a warm-up back into the game. The tracks have a radio vibe because everyone’s like Yeah No Lay’s a hard spitter but can she make music for a mainstream audience? And obviously I can so watch this space…

This Week In Twitpics we’ve got plate bogey from a Sugababe, Skepta eying up the rooms in a Premier League footballer’s new house, Bambi stalking Jodie Connor and a whole lot more.

@Carl_Froch: @DizzeeRascal @mrdavidhaye @LennoxLewis

Boxing’s a funny old game, only one of these blokes is a World Champion and it’s the skinniest, most casual, sunglasses wearing member of the crew, Carl Froch. Lennox Lewis has got his fist ready to go, but his hat betrays a less ready state. We’re not sure wearing glasses was ever going to protect Dizzee Rascal if this ever kicked-off but to paraphrase the great MC “Haye aint got a gun, kick his toe and run”.

@TinchyStryder: Ok its @Slix_fleeingham Tinch is gonna kill me 4 this but check out his attempt to plank @ the airport loool

We’re actually quite impressed by Tinchy Stryder’s Planking here, impressed that he could reach both sides of the moving walkway. We kid, we kid.

@PUSHA_T: Today’s Pick…I click my heels vanish on muthafuckas in these!

Click your heels in Pusha T’s trainers and you’re likely to slice through a tendon. We’re not sure what look Pusha was going for when he put these trainers on, but if it was the Michael Bay’s Transformer foot fetish then we reckon he’s pulled it off!

@ScorchersLife: Just went sweet shop with £30 in my pocket, randomly stopped at the bookies, made £18 an buss straight out : )

Don’t gamble kids! Life is enough of a rush without wagering your wealth on horses. Scorcher doesn’t mention the fact that he only had £30 in his pocket to begin with because he’d already put big money on Jedward winning Celebrity Big Brother, even if they do, he’ll have to live with that fact for the rest of his life. Gambling changes the way you see the world.

@50cent: I can’t feel my face,is this real life #SK

50 Cent can’t feel his face, considering those bullets he had lodged in there a few years back we’re surprised he’s complaining. Seriously though, is 50 really wearing a du-rag and a New Era at the dentist? Some rappers have to be rappers wherever they are, he’ll get married in baggy jeans and a white T-Shirt.

@JodieConnor: This is coming right for me. Think I need to wind my window up. Have no idea what it is! Lol

Jodie Connor obviously never saw Bambi, or if she did, she really didn’t get it.

@JmeBBK: Reebok knew what they were doing here

What have they…the…it’s…Reebok EasyTone? Might have to check that out.

Nando’s clearly have an idea who was responsible for the burning and looting of a few restaurants during the London riots. We’ve never trusted that James Corden, there’s just something about him. How many times do you think we’ll have to mention Nando’s in This Week In Twitpics before we get a High Five card?

@itsYasmin: @example you did achieve some sleep…

We thought Tinchy Stryder’s Planking was good, Example’s managed to airport Plank, with his eyes closed, curled up with…is that his thumb in his mouth? Does Example suck his thumb? It’s not clear…it’s clear enough. It’s official, Example sucks his thumb, alert the papers!

@Skepta: Congratulating Darren Bent at his house warming party last night.. MAJOR!!!

We’re not sure about you but we’d think twice before inviting Skepta to our house warming. He’s a great guy and he definitely knows how to get the part started, but we’d be worried about what he planned to do All Over The House, All Over The House. How does Darren Bent manage to maintain such a messy yet somehow neat beard? A grooming icon! Truly!

@Amelle_berrabah: Wow!!! That’s 1 posh fish and chips!! Xx

We’re not sure where Sugababe Amelle Berrabah was given this meal but she should definitely send it back, the plate is huge and there’s hardly any food on it…oh, and somebody wiped a huge bogey through the middle. Nasty. How are you supposed to eat that with two bent knives by the way?

@mypandashallfly: This is amazing. A sense of humour still remains in Peckham.

Oh yes, that legendary Peckham sense of humour! Little known fact, the sense of humour was invented in Peckham as a way of keeping the dust out of the eyes of the local people. That’s not true…Peckham is dusty though.

@iSHi_2Stripes: History!!! @ericturners

Ishi reckons him and Eric Turners have made history with their latest collaboration, he could be right, but does that say ‘Remaining Time 264.28‘? If that’s in minutes we’re not sure we can be bothered to wait. Perform it acapella while we wait.

@dannywalker1: For what its worth, I’m officially the best cheesecake maker in the @RWDmag office…

While that is indeed a photo of Danny’s homemade cheesecake and it was indeed warmly greeted by the RWD office, we call him the best Cheesecake maker in reference to his dead-out jokes, seriously, you should hear them. That’s why he’s not allowed anywhere near This Week In Twitpics, only top quality jokes about bogeys and Skepta song titles allowed in this section.

Follow us on Twitter and send us your Twitpics @RWDmag, this isn’t You’ve Been Framed so we’re offering £300 but you could have your photo included in the most talked about online feature in the world*.

*may be an exaggeration
