When it was announced that London was going to host the Olympic Games, a flame was lit, a flame fueled by ambition, by passion, by hunger. From the persistently pacified youth culture movements consistently championed by RWD grew superstars, grew chart hits, grew a new style and attitude; not just for the city, but the whole nation. When we put Devlin on the cover of our About To Blow special in 2009 (a London 2012 special, celebrating the [then] forthcoming games), we saw where this youth culture of ours was headed. So it was with great pride that we accepted adidas' invitation to host a night at their secret East London location #adidasunderground during what have proven to be, the games of our lives.
With friend of the mag and former RWD cover-star Wretch 32 [who we first covered way back in 2006] arranged as the event's headliner, our current About To Blow star Maxsta confirmed to kick the night off, the latter mentioned Devlin set to bring his patented raw intensity and growing list of hits to proceedings, we were set for a great night.
Grime pioneer DJ Target was joined by Afrobeats champion DJ Neptizzle and the hardest working host in the UK Eddie Kadi along with legendary party instigators Fonti & Bushkin, fellow party don Ryan Martelo and RWD stalwarts DJ Chewy and Anna B for what we're fairly sure was one of the parties of the summer.
Thank you to everybody who came out, everybody who performed and of course adidas for allowing us to #takethestage.
