It's the last bank holiday of the year people and as always that means its time for us to kiss goodbye to summer and hello to a kinda wet and chilly Notting Hill Carnival. But hopefully the vibes provided by the DJ's and artists below along with a load of rum punch and jerk anything will not allow a few raindrops to put you off the whole affair!
Kicking things off tomorrow night are our mates over at Urban Nerds. As always the line up is bigger than big, hosting the main room the lads have invited Mala & Coki, True Tiger, Marcus Nasty and of course Rattus Rattus is on the list. Carnival is catered for via The Heatwave room which as well as the trio consists of Uncle Dugs, Champion, Terror Danjah and Fonti & Bushkin with Merk Chicken holding down the dancefloor in room three. Early bird tickets are gone, as are the next step up so expect to fork out a prety friendly considering the talented line up £15 to see what all the fuss is about, we assure it'll be worth it.

If you fancy getting a little arty but staying with the carnival theme famed rock and roll photgrapher Pennie Smith took a trip around Notting Hill last week to praise those unsung heroes of the Notting Hill Carnival. Capturing a range of people with her iconic lens courtesy of Red Stripe the exhibition features snaps of samba and steel band leaders, Good Times don Norman Jay, to Bert, Westbourne Grove's station manager and Adrian from Mama's Jerk Chicken Station. Found on the corner of Portobello Road and Lancaster Road get involved in this street exhibition.

Now don't be offended if you weren't a lucky winner of the Major Lazer x Red Bull Music Academy Carnival Party tickets because a couple of the RWD team will be in attendence, so we can always fill you in on what Diplo, Switch, Lunice, Hudson Mohawke, Sean Paul, David Rodigan, Mele and more did for our eardrums. Not to mention the abundance of free food and drink...okay we are rubbing it in now aren't we?

Forget about guest lists and all that jazz, Digital Soundboy Soundsystem don't discriminate and have most definitely got your back, Shy FX and Breakage, plua Donaeo, B Traits, Toddla T, Redlight, Rodigan and Roses Gabor you can bet we head out from under the Westway for a hot minute to indulge in some serious party action with DSB and their legendary skanking session in the street.
There really is a whole lot more to do whilst you're at carnival but we're too excited to think about it anymore we will let you know about a hidden gem in the Garden Bar, Rompa's Reggae Shack that is running all day - from 2pm -2am to be precise - complete with Jerk BBQ listen to everything from reggae and dub to house and jungle from Wookie, Hijak, Rattus Rattus and RWD's very own DJ Chewy. There's 2-4-1 deals before 5pm too, what more can you want!
Enjoy your extended weekend peeps and drop us a tweet if you happen to drop in at any of the spots above!
