Issue 119 - January 2012

Featuring: Emeli Sandé, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Clement Marfo & The Frontline

It's that time of year again; media idiots like us get all over-excited and try and tell everyone what they should be listening to next year. On one hand, it's a great opportunity for past winners like Wretch, Jessie J, Adele etc., to win Polls and Critic Choice Awards and get some much needed exposure. On the other hand, it can put a lot of pressure on an artist to really show and prove; whoever wins the various poss and picks next year, be assured all eyes will be on you.

Our tips last year, well, there were highs and lows. Wretch definitely won, Maverick Sabre and Yasmin are winning, but condolences go out to Soundgirl and RD. Damn the music industry is a tough, lowdown, dirty, business!

This year, we're excited all over again about some incredible talent coming through from the underground; from Lady Leshurr to Azealia Banks, the female rap scene goes from strength to strength. Josh Kumra and Jessie Ware are our top tips for vocal greatness, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is doing it on the pitch. We've also lined up creatives including tattooists, video producers, actors and comedians who we think will do well in 2012.

One person we've kinda cheated on is our cover star, Emeli Sandé. Already blowing up all over the shop, it's safe to say 2012 will be the year of Sandé. We know it's an obvious pick, but talent does what talent does. We at RWD love the Scottish singer. Not only a fantastic vocal talent, this girl can write too; whether hits for others or her swoonsomely excellent debut album, Our Version of Events, fans of Adele and Ed Sheeran will love the 24 year-olf - and you will too! We predict 2012 will see Sandé not only smash the charts in the UK, but right across the Atlantic too. Good luck to her!

Also this issue we catch up with TOWIE's Mario, find out about the new Spiderman film and look at the finest in Christmas knits! What more could you need in life?

We'd also like to send a MASSIVE congratulations to the CEO of Fun Danny Walker and his wifey Hannah on the arrival of their GORGEOUS son, Jake. We're soooo happy for you guys! To everyone else, have an amazing Christmas and New Year - catch you in 2012.
