We’ve just come back from Nike’s 1948 London store – where it was kitted up with Kinect-laden Xboxes, big TVs and people doing position perfect squat thrusts – and it’s safe to say that Nike+ Kinect Training will be a perfect present for Christmas...
Working up a sweat before 11am is never the one but this time we did it with a smile on our faces as we were testing out the latest kit for Xbox. Collaborating with Nike+, the latest game to put your Kinect to full use is the fully fun Nike+ Kinect Training. Utilising the names, likenesses, personas and tips of the trade of international fitness trainers Marie Purvis and Alex Molden, Nike+ Kinect Training allows gamers to have a personal trainer on tap. With Kinect technology at its core, you’re soon told if you’re performing to the best of your abilities or slightly slacking, and it allows you to set your own goals/targets/level of ability.

“By combining Nike’s understanding and knowledge of great athletes with the powerful technology of Kinect, we have created a personal training program unlike anything currently available,” said Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi. “Kinect becomes the eyes for ‘Nike+ Kinect Training’ instructors, bringing a new level of engagement and personalization to the program that blurs the lines between a personal training session and a game.”
Giving you some of the same workouts that professional athletes get, it really is up to you what you get out of it. Despite Alex complaining that our burpees weren’t up to scratch, it didn’t take too long for us to get into it. With the game out on Friday (£39.99 ERP), we’re sure you’ll be the same.
