Jay-Z joins NBA 2K13 team as executive producer

H.O.V.A teams up with 2K Sports to bring his own artistic vision and style to the best-selling basketball franchise

The RWD office cannot wait for the next instalment in 2K Sports’s NBA 2K series. After playing 2K12 to the point that we’re pretty sure our Xbox may have consumed the disc and won’t let us have it back, a yearly update – and a fresh, new disc - is more than welcome.

NBA 2K games' soundtracks are a huge part of the experience, as you will know id you've ever played one of the games. Hip-hop tracks are piped in on the menu screens, loading screens, over the top of pre-game hype videos and even during in-game time-outs.

So, just to make us that little bit more excited about our most anticipated sports title (not called FIFA) this year, 2K have announced the man that has hand-picked the soundtrack (and provided some other artistic direction) is none other than the godfather of hip-hop himself, Jay-Z.

Apparently RWD’s own DJ Chewy was second on the list for the gig, so commiserations to him.

Anyway, Here’s the official announcement video, to wet your appetites…

And if you fancy previewing Jay’s soundtrack before the games release, check out the NBA 2K Facebook page.
