D.Cartel: So Far So Good

Brought together by their love of music, we catch up with D.Cartel, a collection of likeminded artists…
D.Cartel have taken a ‘hands on’ approach to their music, but when your passion for your craft is as strong as theirs it’s more than understandable. Handling song-writing, production, recording, and distribution, this four piece collective refuse to surrender creative control to anyone, so the likes of Simon Cowell better back off!
Consisting of three spitters and a female vocalist, the crew have begun work on their debut disc So Far..., a project with which they aim to silence the often harsh judgmental public with a fine blend of hunger and ambition to push musical boundaries. Their aim? Simple really – just to make music that people can feel and relate to... as well as also shake a leg of course! Their musical influence is as diverse as their ethnic backgrounds – all of which just adds to the mix of what is a sure recipe for success.
The jump off track All I Got features captive guitar riffs, lush strings and banging drums, all of which creates the perfect background for the unit to deliver their conscious lyrics and melodic vocals over. We’re also fans of the MySpace reload tracks; the hangover hit Intoxicated and the group’s reworking of Jennifer Hudson’s smash single Spotlight.
The musical gang are looking to launch their first CD off of a strong showing on Britain’s Next Urban Superstar and are ready to record more music which you can sample (and download!) direct from the MySpace.
