Even Take That Start Sending For Britney
Artist:
Britney Spears
It’s been a bit of a strange week for ol’ Brit, first of all this miming monstrosity…
Then later that night she didn’t fulfil her commitment to the organisers of G-A-Y. Hundreds of clubbers flocked to the club on Saturday night but the singer refused to perform on her 27th birthday. “It was a nice surprise that she turned up.” Jeremy Joseph, the clubs promoter, said of the incident. “About ten minutes before we got a call from her management to say she was coming. We never advertised that she would be there but when she arrived I expected her to go on stage. We wanted to give her a birthday cake in front of everyone. But she just refused. It caused us huge problems. People were getting pushed.”
“I don’t know why she didn’t go on. She’s really shy, and obviously she didn’t feel confident enough. I tried to persuade her but she said no. She is a lovely girl, though.”
Now, Britney Spears has come under fire from Take That frontman Gary Barlow. The Manchester-bred act and Spears both have an album called Circus and they've both performed on X Factor but Barlow is outraged at Saturday’s lacklustre appearance before the Nation’s ITV watching public. Speaking at the international launch of their album in Paris he told press his views. “I don’t see the point of Britney anymore, she was rubbish on the show. I think she’s more famous than she deserves to be now.” The catty comments continued, “Why come on a show like that and mime? I don’t like her new song either. Her old stuff was great but maybe she should have spent more time on this one.”
“The truth is all the contestants on X Factor are so talented and were able to sing and dance live, so why couldn’t Britney do it? It’s the whole point of the show and her miming looked stupid. It’s not that she can’t do it, Britney is really talented and can sing – I just don’t think she understood the show.
“I think probably she was made to do it as a promotional opportunity in England. Britney is unlikely to have had a lot of say in it. The contestants did a better job than her. I’m glad she’s back but X Factor wasn’t right for her.”
