Ask Craig David....
Artist:
Craig David
To celebrate the recently uploaded third instalment of our Dads-Space.com features, we’re giving you the opportunity to ask Craig David anything you want.
We're especially after questions relating to fatherhood- questions can be anything from how he got on with his own dad, whether he hopes to have children soon, or the effect absent dad's can have on their kids in later life.
Of course, also feel free to ask Craig about his switch back to UKG, his new Greatest Hits album, working with grime artists and that infamous Gigs freestyle that hit the 'Net's recently....!

I know my tastes in music growing up have been influence by my Dad. Your Dad was in a Reggae band, has this led to you having a feel for Reggae music and if so who are your favourite artists and do you think you will ever incorporate this into your own music?

Craig, have you ever thought about collaboration with Lemar? because you and Lemar are the best and the most successful on the UK R&B scene, and collaboration between both of you could be something amazing.
and there is a chance you will come ever to concert in Israel?

Mr D, hope you're well...
A debate that keeps coming up on the forum recently is regarding your videos.
Hot Stuff, Where's Your Love, Insomnia and to an extent Officially Yours, have all been quite simple in terms of location and video production.
The message I've been trying to put across is that this should be seen as a positive. Instead of visual acrobatics and jumping through hoops, you're putting your confidence in the song.
So I guess in simple terms my question is...
What would you say to people who think recent videos have been "simple" due to lack of budgets? Is simplicity sometimes needed in music videos to let the song do the talking?
Take care,
Nick

Hello Craig,
I hope all is well! My name is Thaddeus, and I would consider myself to be one of your biggest American fans!
I was on the forum recently, and there was a drawn out conversation regarding something you said at the EMA's. When asked, "What comes first when you create a song? (melody or lyrics), you said the melody comes first. I was taken aback that you placed the melody as a primary focus rather than the lyrics.
My question is: Do you always put the melody before the music, or are there certain songs that you just write, and you realize that they are so good, that you have to find a melody for it. I feel as if "One Last Dance", and "You Don't Miss Your Water" were songs that you focused on the lyrics, and and then added a simple melody with a string and percussion section.
Keep up the good work! Much love from America!

Hello, Craig!!
Recently, you've attended EMA in Liverpool, I was anticipating you to perform "Insomnia" there, why didn't you take such a chance to present your latest single, it would've been great!!!
and the 2nd question is why you ignore the US, you're multi-talented, no one posses a voice like you do and no one can sing live like you; you've got unique style, you've got almost everything to be successful again in the States, cos I think of you're successful in the States you're successful almost everywhere!
Thank You!!! Wish you the greatest luck for "Greatest" release!!!

Hey Craig, it's Steffi from Hamburg.
I hope you're doing fine.
My Question for you is: Did you enjoy all the collaborations with the artists from different countries? (For the remake of Walking away) For Germany: the next time u better do a song with Xavier Naidoo, it would be an awesome song ;-)
I love your new songs, especially Insomnia and can't wait to see you soon!
By the way, I've been to your Concert in Southampton, i traveled all the way from Hamburg to Southampton and i broke my foot right before the concert. But then I sat in front of the front row :D Thank you for that wonderful concert. I'll never forget it - to be at a concert in your hometown
Take care and don't take too long to come to Hamburg again...I didn't have a chance to meet yout this time in Hamburg.

Hi Craig! Will you do another webchat on your forum again? You did one in 2006 and promised to do it again soon, but no webchat so far... Is there going to be a tour with the Greatest Hits album? Your fans from outside the UK want to see you in their countries too. Please don't only tour in the UK. We all are getting poor because we always have to travel to the UK to see one of your gigs! Love, Sandra from Holland.

Craig,
Firstly, thanks for many great songs and performances. Its trually appreciated by many.
I'd like to know where you see yourself in comparison to other artists in the industry? I think you are the best around, but do you?
Keep up the good work man!
