CSS Talk Move and Computer Games
Artist:
RWD
Guitar playing Ana Rezende from Brazilian tearaways CSS speaks to RWD about the pressures of touring and how computer games make it all go away… interview by Danny Walker
RWD: Hello Ana… how is it going?
Ana: Fine, how are you?
Good. Are you getting ready for the Xbox MyGig in Koko tonight?
I was born ready [laughs].
So what have you guys been up to this week?
We’ve just started our UK tour and we’ve recently played in Sheffield, London and what is it called? Norwich? London was really really good.
So London is the best town?
Yeah, London is always really good. We’re excited about playing here again today.
When was the last time you all were all back in São Paulo?
Ahhhh, it’s been a while and we’re all going back this Christmas. We mostly miss our family and friends.
Do you send them videos and pics back?
Yeah and they’re always seeking us out. My dad is always checking us out on YouTube [laughs].
Is he your biggest fan?
Probably… [laughs].
Who are you closest to in the band?
Well I share an apartment with Carolina so… I just see her more than anybody else.
So you know each others secrets then?
Oh yeah… [laughs] we know everything about each other… [laughs].
My favourite track is…
…how would you describe Let’s Make Love… to someone who is deaf?
Erm, it was a really cool track and we never get tired of it. It was our favourite song from the last album and it was the one that people like the most.
What is the one thing that you couldn’t live without at a festival?
My wireless… Especially in England, you need your wireless.
So you’re an Internet hog?
Huh? No… my wellies. Wellingtons! [laughs]
[Laughs]. Oh, sorry I thought you said wireless.
We like the Internet but at a festival wellies are more important.
What has been your biggest festival?
We love playing huge festivals like Glastonbury and Rise.
And you like playing clubs too?
Yeah and tonight should be good. We’re really excited about it. I hope I get an Xbox for free tonight cos I love playing Guitar Hero; I'm really good at it actually.
So you all relax on tour playing games?
Yeah, we have handhelds on the bus too. We're not freaks about computer games but we enjoy them. When we're touring we're always playing them. Adriano [CSS's drummer] can complete the first level for every game, he is kind of retarded for games.
[Laughs]. Some of your tracks have been in computer games too, right?
Yeah.
So tell us about your next single?
Move is out on 13 October so that will be really good and the UK tour will back that up and the trips to Japan and America.
Will you be playing games in your time off?
Yeah, of course and hopefully I’ll have a new Xbox by then.
On Wednesday 8 October CSS headlined an exclusive gig at Koko supported by Florence and the Machine and The Mules. For more info on Xbox MyGig check xboxmygig.co.uk .
