Sasha Solette: Red or Dead!
Artist:
RWD

You may remember her from the Jump Off podcasts, but Sasha Solette is now the front woman of one of the biggest house tracks this summer. Hattie Collins talks to the German born, London raised Italian/Jamaican about being ‘So Good’…
You were born in Germany - do you have a love for Sauerkraut and Lederhosen?
(Laughs) I was born in Hanover, which is a beautiful place. I still visit every year and I always feel at home there. As for our cabbage and the leather shorts, er, yeah, I guess so (laughs).
Your hair is lot dot com forward slash very red. What kind of reactions do you get?
Good reactions, people either come straight out with it and compliment, or stare disapprovingly. I like both!
So you’re on the Ginger Woz Red track So Good. How did you meet Ginge?
Really randomly. I was working a sales job at the time and the company was owned by a friend of his. My CD got passed around and found itself on Tony's (GWR) stereo. I got a call and since then we haven’t stopped making music. We have a unique musical chemistry that I’ve never experienced with other producers. He makes the beats, I write the songs. We will continue to create tracks together as long as we’re both around.
So Good is getting battered by Seb Fontaine, David Guetta etc., are you confident of its success?
We just want to be recognised; we have so much to give and to show everyone that we may burst (laughs). The reactions have been great so far – we’ve gotten to No. 7 in the UK Club charts and we won the UK Club breaker's No. 1 spot two weeks in a row. That's never been done before, so it's all positive.
You went to Sylvia Youngs - was Amy there at the same time?
I wasn't there when Amy was there because I’m a little younger, I'm 20. I was there with Matt D'Angelo (Deano in Eastenders and Strictly Come Dancing) and Louisa Lytton (Ruby in Eastenders). Also watch out for Vanessa White who is the new girl group The Saturdays. It was an amazing experience attending the school, thanks to Sylvia and the crew.
So acting, presenting for Jumpoff.tv and singing - what's your main passion?
Music is my passion so my main focus right now is definitely the creation of my music.
So Good is released digitally on Loony Records 15 Sept. MySpace.com/sashasolette MySpace.com/gingerwozred
