Leona And Lil Wayne Link At VMA's...
Artist:
Leona Lewis
It was a star-studded night in LA last night (well, slightly more starry than usual), as Britney, Weezy, Kanye, Christina Aguilera, Pink, T-Pain and Chris Brown joined host Russell Brand for the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.
Brand was in fantastically controversial form, making cracks about the Jonas Brother's virginity, Madonna's 'friendship' with A-Rod and the controversy around US politicians' private lives. His Jonas jokes didn't go down well with Jordin Sparks who sniffed that not everybody "wants to be sluts." Handbags at dawn.
After taking home video of the year for Lollipop, Lil Wayne was joined by our own Leona Lewis who provided vocals for Don't Get It before he dropped A Millie and then Got Money with Kid Rock.
Weezy F also appeared onstage later in the evening with Kid Rock, while Rihanna and T.I. teamed for Live Your Life. Christina Aguilera and Kanye both put appearances to showcase their new music (Kanye performed Love Lockdown from a new album due before Christmas), while Pink, Pussycat Dolls, LL, Katy Perry and Lupe Fiasco also performed live. Although she didn't perform after last year's fiasco, Britney Spears was the talk of the night after wining three awards. "Wow. I'm in shock right now. I was not expecting this," she cooed, while Chris Brown was similarly low-key when accepting his award. "Personally, I didn’t think I deserved this award," he said. "I thought Weezy was going to get it."
No doubt the real news of the night took place at the afterparties - more news when we get it. Until then, here's Leona, Lil Wayne and T-Pain:
