Artist: Estelle

The nominations for the Mercury Music Prize 2008 are in. RWD were pleased to find out November cover star and No.1 artist Estelle is in the running for her Kanye West, Cee Lo and John Legend featuring LP, Shine.

Adele has also been nominated for highly acclaimed debut 19 and could follow the likes of Dizzee Rascal and the Klaxons if she walks away with the award for her first LP.

Simon Frith, the Chair of Judges of the Mercury Music Prize explained. “What is most striking is the continued resilience and flexibility of the album as a way of organising music-making. It remains an unrivalled source of musical invention and imagination, a way of linking songs, exploring themes and developing sounds that is endlessly thrilling, surprising and worth celebration.”
