Kanye, Com and Meth Sued?
Artist:
Kanye West
Kanye, Method Man, Redman and Common are all being sued by the daughter of the late jazz saxophonist Joe Farrell, for sampling his music without permission.
Farrell's daughter, Kathleen Firrantello, filed the lawsuit against the rhymers and their various labels (all of which are owned by Universal) last Thursday. In all cases, the rappers are accused of using portions of Farrell's 1974 track, Upon This Rock, without gaining (or seeking) approval beforehand. Firrantello is looking for a cool million, and is demanding that no more copies of the various tracks are sold.
The innocent-until-proven tunes are the Louis Vuitton Don's Gone, Common's Chi-City - co-written and produced by West - and Run 4 Cover by Method Man and Redman.
