Noel Gallagher Slags Jay-Z
Artist:
Jay Z
Despite the fact NO ONE cares what he thinks, Noel Gallagher has decided to wade into the 'Should He Or Shouldn't He' Jay-Z Glastonbury debate.
The Nowaysis singer, who often does crazy things like, um, swearing at paparazzi and, er, strums his guitar a lot onstage, has told BBC news that Hov shouldn't be on the mud-filled line-up of this years festival.
"If it ain't broke don't fix it," said Noel 64. "If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance."
Has he seen Jay-Z live? Does he know even more than three of his tracks? Probably not. In fact, Jay is one of the most popular live acts when it comes to indie, rock and pop heads, many of whom loved Jay and Linkin Park's colaboration a few years back. Jay can also count Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow among his celebrity fans, while he's filled out Wembley, Earls Court and The Royal Albert Hall several times. And yes, maybe Jay's popularity isn't the same here as it is in the US, but to slag off the one of the world's biggest rappers without knowing what, or who, you're talking about is utterly informed.
In 2005, Galagher slagged hip hop off in the Observer Music Monthly, moaning that he 'despies' hip hop. I fucking... loathe it. Eminem is a fucking idiot and I find 50 Cent the most distasteful character I have ever crossed in my life. It's so negative. Eminem's new song about his kid - isn't it the most ridiculous piece of music you have ever heard in your life? I just don't like the dragging women around on dog leads and all that stuff. I'm not fucking having that."
The old man also had this to say about Glasto, during his comments the other day:
"Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don't know about it," he droned on. "But I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."
No Noel, what's wrong is watching you and your boring brother, with your monobrowed selves boring everyone with Beatles-based songs that all sound EXACTLY the same. People might have cared about you a few years back, but now all you seem to be doing is looking about in anger!! Now, shhhh....
