Konvikt Comes To London

One of the more famous labels in the game (thanks to Akon singing it on every record he release or features on!), is moving to our very shores.
Akon's Konvict Music Company has launched a London
office with a view to signing European and African talent. CEO Melvin Brown spoke to Allhiphop
"We will be scanning Europe and Africa for the next mega superstars. When Akon and I partnered and created Konvict Muzik, we agreed that we would have the hottest artists on our roster. I have concentrated on diversifying the artist roster and creating an international presence. I personally look for unique artists. I want something that sets us aside from the rest and is completely different than
the average every day music you hear. I want real talent that can be
maximized and molded into mega superstars such as [current signings] Akon,T-Pain and now GLOWB. I realised that there is so much out there when I began the quest with GLOWB and it motivated me to broaden the spectrum of demographics".
Brown didn't confirm Sway's signing, though, as regular RWD readers know, Sway did tell us he has signed with Konvikt, while he and Akon also made an official announcement at 1X's live show in Coventry.
We really rate Akon - a lot of Americans talk to the talk, but he's one star that really has been consistent in his support of UK music. We wish him all the success with Konvikt!
