Estelle celebrated the release of her album Shine last night with a fabulous party at London's Paper. She was joined by everyone in the entire urban scene, who she thanked for their support. "This has been four years," she says of finally getting a No.1 single with American Boy. "But it's as much your as it is mine. Thank you all so much."
Estelle soon shook off her teary eyes, by partying to some serious sounds. Also in the hizouse were Lupe Fiasco, Natasha Bedingfield, Nate James, Chipmunk, Mr Hudson, Reggie Yates, Ace & Viz, Big Ted & Shortee Blitz, Blak Twang, Sarah Love and so on and so on. ITN news and MTV were also on hand to film events.
In other news, Estelle has been stirring up conversation with her recent comments made to the Guardian newspaper. She pointed out that black, British music is still very much neglected in this country, yet when it comes to promoting artists like Duffy and Adele, who are sometimes given the 'soul' tag, labels are rushing to spend the money, while radio immediately adds them to the playlist.
