Addictive: Double Trouble
Artist:
Addictive
Childhood friends meet T2 and create more magic with an Addictive bassline single? We find out more...
At first glance, Addictive could be your ordinary, average girl group. However, beneath the size 6 clothing and beautifully blow-dried hair, there's much more to Plaistow's Louise Bagan and Aisha Stuart. "We're actually still doing our days jobs," reveals Stuart, 21. "I'm a social worker and Louise helps her brother out with his fruit and veg business. Everyday we finish work and then it's to the gym and then the studio. Right now, it's non-stop."
Well, unfortunately it looks likely to stay that way. Last summer the girls, who have known each other over 10 years, caught the attention of 2NV management, who were impressed with both of their vocal abilities and songwriting skills. They were swiftly introduced to a then little-known producer, who was starting to make waves up north.
"We met T2 and hit it off straight away," says Louise of working with one of bassline's biggest names. Rather than just play the girls some beats, T-Tizzle took the duo on a tour of bassline clubs all over Yorkshire. “Although we'd heard a lot of bassline tracks, we wanted to get a feel for it in the flesh,” Louise remembers of the time they spent in Leeds, Bradford and Sheffield. Adds Aisha: “You can’t just listen to bassline on the radio, you have to feel it. The atmosphere is something we’ve never experienced before clubbing in London, and the sound was so fresh and unusual; we loved it.”
Armed with a bag of bassline beats, the Plaistow two headed back east to begin work on the songwriting. During that time, T2 of course smashed into the mainstream with Heartbroken as the girls knuckled down and created club hit Gonna Be Mine. Already A-listed on 1X and a hit at bassline nights around the UK, their debut self-written single looks set to establish Addictive as forcefully as Heartbroken did T2.
“Wait till you hear their album - no braggin' - their vocal levels are high,” says T2. “Watch out for these girls. The single is fire, the album is fire... it's about to pop off!”
Grins Louise: “We're hoping this goes top 5. There’s no one doing what we’re doing; we’re artists too. We’re not just girls miming someone else’s words, we’re putting everything into this like any other artist does. We work our arses off."
We think these girls are full of eastern promise.
Gonna Be Mine is out now.
