Project Talent UK: Key To Success
Artist:
RWD
We revisit Project Talent UK, the initiative providing a platform for raw, creative talent, to witness a hectic day in the life of the finalists.
It’s 06.30 on a freezing cold Friday in November and 12 young people are ready to face a gruelling day. They’ve only been up for an hour and already they’re pushing weights, hitting the treadmill and popping push-ups and sit-ups. But for these budding artists, they’re ready to do what they have to do.
On 2 December, these 12 acts and producers will be proving just how hot they are at the Project Talent Finals at Indigo 02. But before they take to the stage, they need to go through what’s known as artist development; media training, songwriting 101, studio study, grooming and much, much more. After all, not only will the event be filmed for MySpace TV and various satellite channels, but the winner also gets (deep breath...); a development deal with Music World Entertainment International, a management deal with a top management company, a UK tour, supporting top US artists, cash investment, development training, a trip to America to work with various producers and much, much more.
Join us on a typical day in the life of the Project Talent finalist. To these 12 hopeful’s, losing is not an option.

This morning the lucky dozen arose at 05.45. It may be the middle of the night, but glamour waits for no one and the make-up is plastered on, ensuring everyone is camera ready. As this is basically artists-in-residency, the 12 are living, working, eating and even sleeping together (oi, oi, calm down, we’re talking about sharing rooms here!).
It’s time to work on those size 0’s – don’t forget, the camera puts on pounds, so these guys will need to be in tip-top shape!
Even stars have to eat – finally it’s breakfast time…
Becoming an artist takes more than knowing how to sing, you need to know how to present yourself. Remember Mary J. Blige back in the day and her ‘run-in’s’ with various journalists? You have to know how to handle the media; from dodging tricky questions, to getting across important information, the 12 are taught it all.
When it comes down to it of course, all the media training and gym-work in the world don’t mean a thing, if you ain’t got ‘that thing.’ The singers and producers are taught how to write a track, construct a melody and come up with a hook. Singers are a dime a dozen; these days if you want to be world-class, you need to write, sing, dance and produce!
It’s still only 10am, and the guys have much more to do. There’s vocal lessons, rehearsals for the finals, photo shoots, biog’s to be written and much, much more. They can expect to finish around 8pm this evening. And then tomorrow? Yep, it’s back on the treadmill. Who said fame and fortune was easy, eh!
