Over the last two issues we’ve brought you the latest from the Superstar Slam Van. As well as being a versatile vehicle, it also transportation for the Slam Van Allstars... Allgame, Snoop and U.P.S. We talk tricks and bits with the MVPs...

Name: Tarryn Algar aka Allgame – cos I have all around game. I can do a bit of everything.
Teams: I’ve played for Doncaster Panthers, Hull Icebergs/ Stingers and Sheffield Arrows.
Position: Combination guard.
Best trick: I don’t have one particular trick. I’m all about my total game. Catching players off-guard and hitting that net.
Career highlight: I remember one game against the Westminster Warriors; I hit 43 points on their turf. People were coming out of the crowd and hugging me.
Favourite moment in the Superstar Slam Van: Outside the O2 Arena. There was so much energy. And comments like, “This is better than the NBA game,” were great.

Name: Mark Anthony aka Snoop
Teams: I play on the street. Last season I played for London’s Westside.
Position: I’m like a combo guard. I can play point/ shooting guard; I create a lot of havoc basically...
First b-ball memory: I started kicking a ball, I was a really good left midfielder – but then one day they wanted me to play out in the snow and I was like, ‘No, you’re crazy.’ I fell in love with basketball from then.
Career highlight: When I got a scholarship to go and play in America.
Favourite team: Denver Nuggets
Chose b-ball because: I like the fact that it’s a team game and you get to travel and meet different people. I’ve met people from all over the world.
Future Hoop Hopes: Once my son is born, I’ll get him into basketball too.

Name: Leon Bernard aka U.P.S (Unlimited Power Supply) aka
Ampo-King. I just don’t run out of steam, I’m always amped.
Age: 28
Teams: Last season I played for London United.
Position: I’m a small forward; I can use my agility and quickness to run all over people.
Best trick: My left hand lean dunk over people. If you get in the way, you’re in trouble.
Career highlight: When I was about 17/18 I won the Rough and Ready dunk contest over at Brixton Rec. It put me on the map.
Favourite moment in the Superstar Slam Van: Slamming outside the O2 Arena. There were loads of people watching and it was fun.

Is It The Shoes?
The 2008/ 2009 basketball range from adidas is looking big. These [BTB LT NBA’s] come with that all too famous shell toe front and all the ankle support a b-baller could ever need. As well as being lightweight, they’re sturdy and the Allstar team really put them through their paces. Check next month’s DVD to see how they coped.

Snoop: “My favourite thing about these new adidas is the whole old skool vibe at the front with the shell toe. You also have the ability to change the colour of the stripes and coordinate it with your outfit. It’s important to look good on, as well as off, the court… cos there are chicks around.”
