GET Slammin’ Part 2
Artist: RWD

After weeks of preparation, planning and precise plotting, we can finally reveal more on the wonder whip that’s got the world going crazy (well, everyone in London anyway...!)

The pimping of the van was simple; we found a decent vehicle on eBay (yes, the electronic marketplace is not just for shotting your nan’s jewellery) and tuned it to our specification.

Totally Dynamic took just over 24 hours to wrap the van. Most of the time was spent with them taking pictures to use alongside their long list of clients. It seems putting a red nose on the London Eye pails in insignificance to working on our whip.

We then took a trip to Fusion Electronics’ warehouse in north London. There were so many speakers, amps and sub woofer bass boxes, they barely fit! Getting the expensive green gear into our means of transport proved to be quite difficult, with a certain member of staff’s Fiesta definitely looking worse for wear.

The Slam Van’s first official promotional outing was late in September. We rolled through Brighton’s Level Skate Jam, speakers a-blazing. The reaction was kick-flip-tastic as if the van concealed Tony Hawk himself. As well as inquisitive kids sticking their heads through the windows – thinking the A-Team had reformed – the majority of boarders simply wanted to know what was going on. At that point we let the bass do the talking.

We rolled up outside Kano’s Astoria gig with grime tunes aplenty. Ghetto, Wiley and Skepta were soon bouncing off the bumper, spitting bars and drawing even more a crowd. The forthcoming DVD and slamvan.co.uk will show you more.

Drum & Bass Arena were at MoS for their fifth anniversary, and so were we. This gave us the perfect opportunity to setup the basketball hoop and have D&B revellers LEAVE THE QUEUE to slam dunk and shoot hoops... a fun-fuelled night.

Earlier this month, we took the van to adidas’ London HQ. Parked on a double yellow, we defiantly played b-ball in the street and brought Wardour Street to a stand-still. Check the Slam Van’s Facebook to witness the carnage for yourself.

To win a grand, get onto slamvan.co.uk and upload your
b-balling footage. Whilst there, vote for everyone else’s clips too...
