Signed to A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold label (he of DMC/ Kanye West DJ fame), this Chi-Town performer is to America what MIA is to England; kooky, off-kilter and very, very cool.
Low-key release Control/ Damn Girl got the bloggers typing extra fast, while style mags have been crazy for her ‘club rap’ sounds and Kelis-on-acid styling for over a year. And now there's the syrupy number, Pro Nails, which is basically about getting your manicure on to the Nth degree. Oh, and it features that Chicago rapper guy, aka hip hop super-super star, Kanye West.
Add working with 'Ye to a spot on MTV's My Block, alongside West, Common and Lupe Fiasco, and it's obvious where this 26 year-old is headed. As well as working with big-ballers, the Kid is also keeping it in the family, with her DJ, J2K (of Flosstradamus, not the UK grime scene!) being her little brother.
