RWD: Backstage At MTV: Part 2

As promised, we set our blag game to 'high' last night in order to deliver you, the lovely RWD readers, the inside scoop from backstage at the MTV EMA awards.
While Dynamo entertained Dave Grohl with mo' magic, Pete Doherty loitered outside Joss Stone's dressing room and Nelly Furtado just looked very blonde, the real action happened after the awards at the VIP parties.
We hotfooted it down to the (*cough DRY cough*) Sony party in...well, somewhere in Munich, who knows. Wyclef played a set for lots of German people in suits, in what looked like an old aircraft hanger. We could only surmise that someone decided to purposefully seek somewhere with as little atmosphere as possible and then fill it will people whose iPod collections consist of Phil Collins and David Hasselhoff (you know Deutscheland love the Hoff, right?).
Escaping from the soul-less hanger, we cabbed over to another part of Munich for the Interscope party. Last year in Copenhagen, we exited the I'scope party with a brand new pair of self-designed Nike iD's, a bag of Aveda and Vichy goodies and a hangover-from-hell waiting to happen. This year? A packet of German biscuits.
As we arrived, so did Snoop in his Maybach. Unfortunately, he must have not felt the vibe, cos the car turned round and took off without him even stepping out.
Once inside, Will.i.spam and Nicole Scherzinger were 'entertaining' slightly less corporate but a still DRY-OUT bunch of party-goers. Nicole sang that track that flopped. No, not that one, the other one. An old man with no top on and too much baby-oil wiggled about under a spotlight. It was not very nice.
Anyway, once Scherzinger was done and settled in the VIP, plenty of men were trying to make their moves on the former Pussycat Doll star. Lewis Hamilton, we see you!
Yes, the speedy F1 champ wasted no time in getting next to Nicole, who politely chatted to him for a few minutes. When he tried busting a couple of moves though, Nicole gave him some hard a.i.r and left him in the hands of Will.i.am. Not literally, of course.
Still, we rate the man for trying. Especially as he is pretty small and without a whole lot of neck.
Ok, we feel bad saying that - cos the kid rocks!
Anyway, after party no 2 being deadout, we decided to call it a night around 04.30.
The MTV Awards were a'ight (admittedly not much in the way for us urban-heads performance wise, but Snoop did a good job, and Amy W at least turned up!), but this year we have to give a big thumbs down for the afterparties. I don't know if it's the record labels, or the city itself, but someone needs to fix up, look sharp.
Luckily, the MTV EMA 2008 Awards will be in Liverpool. Having partied hard in that city, I can promise they will be on point.
