It takes more then a confident woman to turn away from the gymnastic defying dance routines and bubble gum pop songs that have sold over 6 million records worldwide, and helped define a legion of fans. But last week that's just what Nicole Scherzinger did.

Forgoing the arenas she's used to selling out, the Pussycat Dolls Queen B chose the intimate and restrained settings of the Soho Revue Bar to introduce her solo effort to a select audience of industry tastemakers.

Hosted by Samsung, the Soho hotspot was transformed into a fitting homage of images and videos of the longed haired Hawain-Russian-Filipeno one, who regularly graces the world's most beautiful list.

Arriving on stage in a sheer vest top, backed by a full band, Nicole wasted no time in performing the hits from her the album she's said has been in the making "my whole life". However far fetched the claim may be, the four songs she did perform from Her Name Is Nicole were convincingly good.

The small venue suited her raspy and sensuous vocals, styled by her years spent as a back up singer for a rock band before becoming the formidable Pussycat lead woman.

Her rumoured next single Super Villian was given a edgy, harder sound which was taken down a peg or two with the smaltzy NeYo produced Happily Ever After and Snow Patrol tweaked Just Say Yes.

Ending with the love it or hate it single Baby Love the showcase served as a tantalizing taster to what will no doubt be a make-or-break solo effort.
