Today's newspapers are full of concern for Amy Winehouse following her dramatic collapse earlier this week.
While her label are blaming 'severe exhaustion,' The Sun nespaper have been doing their own investigations, reporting that the Back To Black singer took ecstacy, horse tranquilizer drug ketamine, cocaine and, to top it off, some vodka and JD.
After landing at Heathrow on Monday (she'd been in the US for the MTV nominations party), Winehouse headed straight to a nearby pub. in Hounslow. Regulars reported that Amy and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil were up and down to the toilets. "It was clear what they were up to,” said one local, while another, Lesley McCormack, went into more detail.
“She went into both the ladies’ and men’s loos. I suspect they were taking cocaine. They were with another woman. Amy ordered a club sandwich, asking for tuna instead of chicken — but she never ate it. She was a very nice person and signed some CDs for us and also had games of pool with the locals. It was surreal seeing them in there as it really isn’t the kind of pub that you see a rock and roll star in. There are normally only three old men in there.”
Winehouse then rolled to her own local, the Hawley Arms in Camden where her behaviour and appearance worsened. She is said to have continued partying through the night, and returned to the Hawley the next day. Hours later she started convulsing and was taken into hospital.
Friends and family are said to be very, very concerned for their pop star pal, with even Blake's dad chipping in. Retired businessman Lance Fielder, dismissed her record company's excuse as a "cover-up".
"[Blake] told me he was very worried about her. He admitted they both drank and did drugs but that came as no surprise. It was bought on by all her excesses. Yes, work is one of them, but there's the drink and drugs too. She's got to get a grip on herself before it's too late. Amy is besotted by Blake. She's much happier when he's there and he wants to help her. Blake's a good influence on her. But Amy is a very, very strong personality and I just wonder how much influence he can exert over her."
Friends appear to have a different opinion of Winehouse's husband. “To be honest, Blake doesn’t help. I’ve known Amy since she started going out with him and I’ve never seen her so f***ed up as she is now," said one anonymous pal. "The house has become a drugs den. It’s filthy, covered in ash and the stench of rotting food. Blake wants to be like Pete Doherty, with Amy as his Kate. But Amy is just tumbling and tumbling and all her mates are terrified.”
The Mirror meanwhile are reporting that Winehouse has finally heeded her own advice and checked into rehab centre, The Priory. The move to get better came about after Amy needed her stomach pumped and an adrenaline shot following the three day bender.
