Sometimes friends, but more often rivals, Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen will finally found out who's hottest at next month's MTV Awards.
The two gobby brunettes are up for the award of Best Newcomer, alongside Gym Class Heroes and American Idol's Carrie Underwood. With over a million in album sales, a great US profile and, ahem, a working visa, we'll put our dough on Wino. Plus, we really don't like Lily's music so...
In other MTV Awards news, Beyonce and Justin Timberlake lead the nominations with seven nods a piece, followed by Rihanna and Kanye West who have five.
As well as best video (our money is on Stronger) there will also be new categories this year, including All-Around Achievements of Artists. The category of Quadruple Threat Of The Year sees big dogs Beyonce, Bono, Jay-Z, JT and Kanye all gunning for the top spot.
The 2007 MTV Video Music Awards will take place at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on 9 September. Expect live performances from Amy, Lily, Kanye, Chris Brown and Rihanna. Justin Timberlake and Timbaland will also be hosting their own Fantasy Suite - whatever the hell that is!

rihanna and kanye west thats who i want 2 win dont care about lily allen or amy crackhouse amy crackhouse will probaly win it still and i hope it aint dissapointin like last yr 1
