50 Talks Hip Hop Ban
Artist:
50 Cent
Bearing in mind he has an album due for release next month, it's no surprise that 50 Cent is keeping himself in the news by commenting on a controversial subject. When asked whether he believed the N Word should be banned from hip hop, a thoughtful 50 insisted that rappers are merely reflecting the harsh environment from which they come, those words are an inevitable part of the art. "It's like, you can't paint the American flag and not use the colour red,' he said before pointing out that rappers were a target when film companies should also be questioned.
"A film has image and sound and is definitely more impressionable than just sound," said Cent. "But it's easier to attack eight individuals that it is to go after one corporation...like a Paramount or Columbia Pictures."
At a press conference for US TV station BET, 50, in response to the fact that Master P has said he will no longer use swearwords in his music, laughed and said it hardly mattered. "But Master P desn't sell CDs anymore. You can tell him I said it, camera's is rolling right? Curtis, out June 26."
Check out the full interview below...Interestingly, when we interviewed Cent a few weeks back, we were told not to ask any question on that subject at all. Looks like he's changed his mind...
