NEWS : Battlefield 3 Send Tanks Into London To Help With Rush Hour Traffic

Written by Tego Sigel on 27 Oct 2011

If we had a tank in London rush hour we’d probably do something very irresponsible but when Battlefield 3 sent them in, they used them as Taxis, or Tanksis [genius] for tired commuters.

We are literally ticking the hours off before Battlefield 3 comes out on Friday. Released on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, it is one of the biggest releases of the year and has been making us progressively more excited since we saw the first official trailer earlier this year.

In a move of pure genius, Battlefield 3 sent a team of armoured tanks into London this week, invading taxi ranks and carrying lucky commuters to work [why were you late? I got a lift in a tank. Oh, don't worry about it.]. Branded Tanksis, the military vehicles dominated the roads over their comparatively shoddy rivals, London buses and black cabs. The free Tanksi service saw the 16 tonne Abbot tanks battle the usual traffic chaos, navigating the jammed up streets around London passing landmarks Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Westminster and even Buckingham Palace.

The Tanksis will make an explosive return to the capital tomorrow morning [Friday], offering lucky commuters another opportunity to enjoy this unique way to travel across London.

Battlefield 3 is released tomorrow [Friday October 28] and is available on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
