NEWS : Example Snaps At Bootleggers, Paints Front Door

Written by Tego Sigel on 28 Mar 2011

When five people tweeted Example today informing him of their illegal downloading ways it set him off on a mighty rant about the value of music and what he thinks of bootleggers.

“Illegal downloading will always be around but dont boast about it to the artist. We spend a lot of money producing records” Example offered somewhat casually via Twitter this afternoon “Some people out there must think it costs nothing to make a record and we don’t deserve anything in return” he continued “And most artists make literally NO MONEY off of singles or albums these days” growing more agitated by the topic which he’s clearly considered at length “If you come round my house and paint my front door I dont expect you to do it for free” a point well made “My front door dont need painting btw. I did it myself” did he sand the door down, cross hatch the gloss, let it dry, apply a second coat and avoid door frame over-spill? “And dont any of you call me greedy. I gave my last single away entirely free” we were talking about doors actually Example, can we get back on topic? “My door is a lovely glossy black paint btw. Brass door knobs and letterbox fittings. Not paid for by illegal downloaders ; – )” respect.

You can pre-order the single Example was unhappy at being downloaded illegally, Unorthodox by Wretch 32 featuring himself here. You should totes enter the competition to have Example play a private gig for you and your mates here and listen to his sick new single Changed The Way You Kiss Me here.

Now back to that door…
