In the latest issue of RWD – issue 109, the Spoof Special – our favourite prosthetics performer, Kayvan Novak, sat down with RWD to talk about all things Facejacker/ Fonejacker (“I’m just infantile really. As long as I tickle myself, that is my best kind of judge to what is going to be funny.”), his forthcoming project, Naked Apes and what he was like in school, (“I was the joker. I would take the p*ss and do all the classic stuff…”). Of his forthcoming Channel 4 project, Naked Apes, he says he was the only Asian in the village…

When you’re the traffic warden and you’re giving someone a ticket or you’re sending up a celebrity, has anything gone wrong? Have you been battered?

I’ve never been battered but I was accosted in a supermarket car park after posing as a check out guy.

Oh yeah that was Morrison’s, right?

Yeah, Morrison’s.

Were the police called or anything like that?

Yeah, they were and I ended up in the back of a police car as Augustus Kwembe.

Did you have to pull out your Channel 4 ‘Get Out Of Jail Free Card’?

[Laughs] They didn’t actually have that. My producer was with me and luckily the coppers had heard of Fonejacker. Then when I exposed my golden brown arms…

I thought you were going to go off on a tangent there…

Na.. sorry. Sorry to disappoint you with my linear answer.

Ok… arms…

Yeah, so I showed them my golden brown arms and then they realised that I was actually painted a Ugandan chestnut colour.

Is there a line you wouldn’t cross?

I think all of the characters are quite good natured, apart from Dufrais.

Well there is the taking credit card details???

Yeeeeeah, well that is not that heavy is it. It’s all quite cuddly still. I think anyway.
