Creative Recreation was founded in the Autumn of 2002, in Los Angeles, California. The driving force behind the birth of Creative Recreation was a sense of dissatisfaction in what the industry was offering. At that time, the footwear market consisted of two options; a dress shoe to be worn with a suit, or an athletic sneaker that did not fit an evolving lifestyle. There simply were no existing options for stylish young professionals. Noticing this void, the founders decided to face this challenge head on.

Realising that success was no longer correlated to wearing a suit and tie, Creative Recreation began its journey. Our generation is known for breaking boundaries and redefining social norms while being credited with an abundance of entrepreneurial spirit and drive.

Inspired by both the void in the footwear industry and the change in social currents, the founders set out to design a shoe that they simply “wanted to wear”. By combining the best aspects of other footwear categories, the comfort of an athletic sneaker, and the materialization of a dress shoe, the ultimate crossbreed was born.

Many people have difficulty understanding what category Creative Recreation should fall into. To the founders, this is the ultimate compliment. “We don’t want to be put into any category, we’re a lifestyle company that makes footwear!
