Sony have combined Sony Ericsson with Playstation to create a new super-phone. Wow.

While game fans await news of the PSP2 [we're not sure why?] Sony have got something else up their sleeve in the form of the Playstation Phone. This prototype image may look somewhat on the ugly side, but the potential is obvious.

Developers are confident that the PlayStation Phone will be on the market soon and is rumoured to support Google Android 3.0 format including a brand new “custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform” think a PlayStation iTunes.

In terms of technical information that is already way over my head, the phone is reported to “pack in 1GHz Qualcomm CPU, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and a screen “in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches.”

What do you think? Just when iPhone and Blackberry appeared to have the game sewn up; is the PlayStation Phone a good addition to a seriously competitive market?
