The Dark Knight will rise again but he won’t be rising with the Riddler, nor, for more obvious reasons, the Joker.

Director of the rejuvenated Batman franchise; Christopher Nolan, has revealed the first official details from the next film and in the process put a lot of rumours to bed.

The third Batman movie and the sequel to the critically and commercially successful The Dark Knight will be called The Dark Knight Rises and will NOT feature to much speculated Riddler character. Nolan revealed that despite pressure from Warner Bros, the film will not be shot in 3D but in IMAX HD, a decision we’re not hating.

No conclusive answers were given about villains for the film expected summer 2012 but Nolan did offer “We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones,”

Christopher Nolan, who also directed and wrote this summer’s smash Inception, was recently brought on board the new Superman project and many are speculating that the two stories may head in the same direction.
