NEWS : Playboy Set To Sue Drake

Written by Nardene Scott on 29 Jun 2010

Following an amazing week, when Drake managed to rack up first week sales of nearly half a million for his debut album, Thank Me Later he has been dealt a blow by Playboy who have decided to sue him over infringement rights to previous hit record, Best I Ever Had.

The intro to the chart topper, Best I Ever Had, sounds remarkably like a song called Fallin In Love by Hamilton, Joe Frank and Dennison/Reynold which is owned by Playboy. Playboy argue that Cash Money never approached them to request the use of the track and are now fighting to stop further sales and distribution of the hit record. To top it all off Playboy also refuse to pay any of the legal costs incurred during the case!

It’s not the first time Cash Money have neglected to pay up either, a few months back two producers sued Cash Money over unpaid royalties for Lil Wayne’s hit records, A Milli and Lollipop.

Look out for our interview with Drake in the new issue of RWD where he talks about his love for Shola Ama, visiting Lil Wayne at Riker’s Island and his recently released debut album.
