NEWS : Online Review: Timbaland and Michelle Branch at the MINI Countryman Open Air Festival

Written by Danny Walker on 9 Jun 2010

They billed the event as ‘Where urban meets country’ and that certainly was the case when we walked past sheep with graffiti on their backs. With MINI Countrymans and freeness as far as the eye could see, it definitely was an eventful night… [IMAGES INSIDE]…

Now we’ve officially recovered from last night’s festivities at London’s Mudchute Farm – where we brushed shoulders with celebrities, people we know and respect and Donna Air – we can tell you that it was a great way to launch the new MINI.

The likes of Henry Holland, Cat Deeley, Eva Herzigova and many other celeb-types were in attendance but as we were mainly by the bar, we didn’t see many.

After a slow musical start Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard soon had the party in full flow before US country star Michelle Branch was driven onto the stage (guess what car she was in) and soon performed her new track with Timbaland, Getaway.

The highlight of the night – apart from Thames river boat ride that preceded our entry, oh, and the lamb chops – was obviously the headlining act. Timbo, who came on with his daughter, reeled off some modern classics in his short yet sweet set. The best of which included The Way I Are, Carry Out, Morning After Dark and the immense song he finished with, Say Something. Why can’t MINI release a new car every week as a brilliant night was had by all.

Lovely event pics by Andy Paradise.

And here are images of the car itself.
