NEWS : Drake talks UK music…

Written by Liam Tootill on 17 Jun 2010

So we brought you the news recently that our lovely editor Hattie managed to track down Drizzy Drake in a swanky west-end hotel last week and they spoke about everything from Ri Ri rumours, to the rap stars’ love for Team UK…

We can hardly wait to drop this interview in our ‘Room 101’ issue next month as Drizzy is quite literally the hottest kid on the block right now. In the time he spent with RWD he confirmed that he has been a long term admirer of R&B singer/songwriter Craig David and the wonderful Shola Ama (who he went to lunch with whilst he was visiting London). The Thank Me Later star told us, “She’s like a good friend of mine. I talk about her on Comeback Season. I used to be a big fan of her and I used to love Craig David too, when I was in high school. I mean I still do.”

Drake seems to have a fond affection of the UK music scene because he also gave us a little heads up that he has been collaborating on some material recently with London-based, three-piece The XX and even let us in on his admiration for Mike Skinner, admitting, “I was a huge fan of The Streets.”

Make sure you stay locked to RWD for this feature and many more in our forthcoming issue.
