From customized hand painted garments to a full on exclusive collection Dirrrtee has been in the streetwear game for three years and with a strong relationship with SB.TV it’s no wonder their brand is on the back of JME. RWD find out what’s new for this season and what brought about the brand in the first place.
Who are you and what’s your brand called?
James from Dirrrtee.
How long have you been in business?
It started off in late 2007/early 2008 but back then all it was was customised clothing, hand painted type stuff. Really the actual brand as its seen today (no customised clothing) has only been going for a year and a half at the most.
What label/designer inspired you to start your brand?
None specifically inspired me to start a brand, there were two things that inspired me to start the brand; one was a passion for streetwear and the other was a hate for getting up at 6am then working until 6pm carrying bricks around and mixing up cement for a fat lazy bricklayer.
What’s new for your brand this season?
Really its our first ‘proper’ collection, up until now we have pretty much been releasing drips and drabs of t-shirts, this time round we’ve come with a variety of items all at once, it feels a lot more solid. Product wise we have tees, sweatshirts and a 24″ chain with pendant logo. There’s a greater variety on offer than before which is probably the main point of ‘newness’ this season.
Where will your brand be in five years?
Where it needs to be!
What does the opportunity to present your range at Reset mean to you?
Personally I feel good about it, from a business point of view it allows me to present my brand to people that may not of yet heard of it, it also gives me a chance to interact with customers and supporters which is something selling online doesn’t do.
UK streetwear is relatively new – why should people pay attention?
Simple really; because the artwork, work levels and concepts behind the serious brands make for some seriously fresh looks.
Who/What would be your ideal clothing collaboration?
I’m happy focusing on Dirrrtee, the brand is new and isn’t anywhere near its full potential yet. We have a working collaboration with SB.TV (Video Broadcaster) and that’s plenty for the brand right now.
Do you have a website? Where can we buy your clothes?
Yep newly revamped and upgraded, you can find us online at www.dirrrtee.com. We are also available at Mash which is located at no.73 Oxford Street, London.
Any last words?
