Director of A.IN.T streetwear label, Charlie Crockett goes deep about the art inspired philosophy behind his brand, the importance of high quality garments and how Reset is in a class of it’s own when it comes to trade shows.

Who are you and what’s your brand called?

I am Charlie Crockett. I am I director of a contemporary street wear brand named Art in transit. A.IN.T for short. “It’s pronounced ain’t.”

How long have you been in business?

The brand was conceptualized on the 21st of May 2006. The name was taken from a chalk illustration by Keith Harring. The phrase art in transit struck a particular nerve. Art being any thing, transit being motion. Any thing in motion.

The idea that you could reference anything and take any direction that sparked our interests, and this still kept within the brands philosophy which was exciting to me.

What label/designer inspired you to start your brand?

There’s too many. I have a keen interest in clothes the fact that you can put clothes on and you are instantly perceived differently is an amazing concept. They transform how people perceive you. Yet you remain who you are underneath them. There are cases when I wear clothes and feel different, they can sometimes allow me to take on a slightly different persona as if they are costume, it allows the mundane to become animated in your day to day running of life. Not many things can actually alter your state of being with out changing your state of consciousness. Clothes are one of them

What’s new for your brand this season?

This season we have baseball jackets, hoodies and sweats all made by Maharishi! Which is the best quality I could find. Every thing is made from scratch and all unique to art in transit. The cuts and finishes have all been painstakingly done by the very talented Mark. So expect the best quality garms from your local neighborhood street wear brand

What does the opportunity to present your range at Reset mean to you?

It’s a good place for raw talent. I’ve done a few of these and the Reset is definitely the most official. The best organised and the first of it’s kind in London. So in my opinion it’s the best

UK streetwear is relatively new – why should people pay attention?

Because it’s representing them

Who/ what would be your ideal clothing collaboration?

I will guard this one close to me. I don’t want to give too much away. There are a few but I don’t want any one else getting to them before me.

Do you have a website? Where can we buy your clothes?

A.IN.T is stocked in about 12 stores across the country and a few in Europe. The website should be launched by the end of June. I’ve pushed it back four times. So watch this cyber space.
