Streetwear has often overlooked women with the exception of a few international brands so a couple of years ago Zahra Swanzy set out to fill the gap in the market when she started Swanz Fly, to represent for women who love streetwear. Show your support at Reset London where Zahra will be exhibiting her collection amongst a whole host of other strong UK streetwear brands.

Who are you and what’s your brand called?

I’m Zahra Swanzy and I started SWANZ FLY

How long have you been in business?

Started in early 08 doing unisex garments and accessories and have been focused on ladieswear since 09.

What inspired you to start your brand?

The lack of female presence in the streetwear scene; I mean us girls can rock men’s garms easily, but it’s nice to have something made for us, our body and our fit.

What’s new for your brand this season?

I’ve invested in four-way stretch fabric to maximise movement in my skirts, I have pin-up tees, two-finger rings, denim dungaree style playsuits and varsity jackets

Where will your brand be in five years?

Five years? Shit I’ll be 30

What does the opportunity to present your range at Reset mean to you?

It’s great to be part of this strong UK movement. We are doing our own thing, creating our own identity and its empowering.

Who/What would be your ideal clothing collaboration?

I have always admired the work of Betsey Johnson, so I would love to do a project with her.
