FASHION : Reset London Spotlight On…PXL

Written by RWD on 25 May 2010

Offering an entirely unique take on streetwear, PXL Clothing blends artwork with the added bonus of limited edition pieces spins the streetwear market on its head. Not to discriminate PXL Clothing is for the streets and geeks alike as well as a host of artists supporting the brand including Roll Deep, Bashy and N-Dubz; you can see what PXL Clothing has to offer at Reset London later this month.

What’s your brand called?

PXL.

How long have you been in business?

I’ve been working in the UK music biz for 15 years and in streetwear since 2008.

What label/ designer inspired you to start your brand?

I’ve been into streetwear since Cross Colours, Stussy, Naff Naff etc… But more recently LRG really made an impact as far as quality and attention to detail. But when Scott Langton launched Artful Dodger in the States, he totally changed the game… I was lucky enough to get my first introduction to designing streetwear with Artful Dodger… until Jay-Z bought the brand and homogenized it…

King Apparel, Cassette Playa, Wale Adeyemi and Second Son have really made an impact over here… Also – I have to mention Oliver and Terence at Pop-Up Showroom who are true legends in this game!

What’s new for your brand this season?

Loads more Ts for summer and cut and sew for this autumn…

Where will your brand be in five years?

By 2015 I’d like to have a fully blown cut and sew collection, collaborations… a couple of flagship stores, a tight network of retailers and to be selling boatloads online…

What does the opportunity to present your range at Reset mean to you?

It’s a great showcase of what’s best in the UK streetwear market. Also – to meet the public and customers…

UK streetwear is relatively new – why should people pay attention?

Because the energy and creativity within the scene will go on to influence national and international trends, just as UK Street music is doing currently…

Who/What would be your ideal clothing collaboration?

I’d love to work with so many people, but as far as who would be right for PXL – Johnny Cupcakes, Scott Langton and obviously Nike.

Do you have a website? Where can we buy your clothes?

Check out PXLclothing.com for free style guide downloads, a streetwear blog and obviously the shop… PXL is also available through MASH, Oxford Street, Lemi.co.uk and Threadsaddiction.com. We are also featuring in River Island’s independent brands section…

Any last words?

Check PXLclothing.com and also many thanks to Nike and The Reset!
