FASHION : Reset London Spotlight On…Benjart

Written by RWD on 26 May 2010

In the second of our designer spotlights for the upcoming Reset London we catch up with one of London’s finest streetwear designers Benjart to see why he decided to get into the fashion game, how the UK’s high street is boring and what the future holds for his brand.

Who are you and what’s your brand called?

My Name is Benjart Jb and I run and own an underground streetwear brand by the name of Benjart.

How long have you been in business?

Benjart has been providing the UK’s underground with unique limited pieces for approximately two and a half years now; the brand has grown from strength to strength, with its key focus on conceptual designs stemming from life experiences of the brands faceless owner.

What label/designer inspired you to start your brand?

To be honest, I was bored of the clothing offered in high street stores and began to put plans together to create clothing for myself. It propelled into a full blown underground brand! Never neglect your plans!

What’s new for your brand this season?

This season we have introduced the brands first ever cap which is a mesh based snap back featuring our metal encrusted Benjart crest – This is most definitely a key summer accessory. We also have the launch of our Bsplash collection of tee’s which is us basically re-establishing one of our original designs to our new customer base!  Theses will be available in an array of colourways!

Where will your brand be in five years?

In five years we would definitely wish to be key players in both the European and Asian markets, whilst still being able to keep our garments limited and make them even more collectable than they are at this present stage.

What does the opportunity to present your range at Reset mean to you?

Reset is very good for the consumers as it gives them a chance to see the moves that underground streetwear brands are making all in one room.  For us our fans/ customers will get to meet us face to face and it enables us to build a rapport with the people that follow the brand. It also gives us the ability to meet new consumers who may be unaware of the brand period.

UK streetwear is relatively new – why should people pay attention?

People should pay attention because there is a revolution taking place right underneath their noses. If they sleep on it they may wake up to a living nightmare!
