If you could invent a festival app for Glastonbury this year, what would you choose? Ours would definitely involve something to do with toilets and hangover cures…!
Well, Orange decided to do a lil Twitter poll, canvassing their follower’s fantasy festival apps to see the weirdest and wildest they could find. The overall winner, @carlmartin won a pair of Glasto tix for his ‘Augmented reality gigs in your tent’, a service for people like RWD who will no doubt be too ‘tired and emotional’ to move far from our two-man. The app would use augmented reality tech to layer a computer-generated movie of your favourite band over the inside of your tent. Pretty genius!
Here’s a selection of some other fine ideas:
1. CrApp – @ukmanchesterdan an app that could tell you which of the toilets have just been cleaned
2. Tent finder – @carlmartin best tent location – dependent on weather, proximity to toilets, bars etc, helps find best place for tent
3. Glasto Mash up – @ KeelyKov an app that mixes Glasto artists’ tracks together into the ultimate party mash up!
4. Blag your way back stage – @rossalloyd blag ur way backstage app! Reason why security should let u in 2 VIP bar! E.g. I am Stevie Wonder’s Somerset cousin
5. Live from backstage – @i_am_joecool an app that has live webcam broadcasts from backstage to see artists before and after they perform
6. Random band generator – @pilki42 shake your phone to suggest a random band playing now and directions to the stage
7. Lovestruck – @chloehaybags thelondonpaper ‘Lovestruck’ style app to find the hot girl/guy you’ve spotted…spread the love at Glasto
8. I’m in the band man! – @carlmartin – App allows u 2 take photos with yourself superimposed with your fave band to share + trick your friends
9. The festival hangover remedy suggestions generator – @milamputechture ‘The Festival Hangover Remedy Suggestion Generator’ (All suggestions being different alcoholic beverages)
10. Glastonbury rumour destroyer – @B1TTY Glastonbury Rumour Destroyer! Glasto-goers use the app and it’ll list the current rumours true or false
Orange are the Official Communications Partner for Glastonbury Festival. 2010 sees the return of the bespoke Glastonbury Festival app GlastoNav, which will be launching in June. For more info on Glastonbury, which takes plan in Somerset from 23 – 27 June, go to the Glastonbury site.
RWD will be reporting live and direct from the fest this year, so keep locked to find out how we get on drinking lots of cider and watching the likes of Roll Deep, Tinie Tempah and Snoop Dogg!
