The late May bank holiday (28-30) is the date for this year’s Hungry Pigeon Festival in Manchester, the city’s fastest growing music festival. This year’s event will be headlined by alternate rock act Athlete and organisers have teamed up with HL Jeans Co by Henri Lloyd, the established, pioneering brand, to add further class to the event.

Here at RWD we’ve become captivated by the name of this festival. It interests us slyly. Like, Hungry Pigeon. What’s all that about? Aren’t all pigeon’s hungry? Those pesky, scavenging, bird-rats are the pests of the sky, but there’s nothing pesky about the Hungry Pigeon Festival. Indie heavyweights Athlete will headline the forward-thinking festival, whose 2004 UK number one selling album Tourist went down very well in RWD Towers, along with many of you we’re sure. They’ll be accompanied by The Jessie Rose Trip, Misty’s Big Adventure, Beggar Joe, Manchester Samba School, Propaganda DJs and the hotly tipped All The Damn Kids, from Sheffield. And with the Henri Lloyd partnership going on, you can tell that this Manchester-`based festival have really stepped the levs up this year.

The partnership with Henri Lloyd will bring a HL Jeans Co tent to the heart of Piccadilly Gardens with special guest DJs, a funky HL Jeans Co bus which will be showcasing the newest, freshest collection of Henri Lloyd swag, with giveaways and competitions for all your brand-hungry gig-goers. There will also be limited edition HL Jeans Co ‘Hungry Pigeon’ T-shirts exclusively on sale at the festival and in store at Henri Lloyd, St Ann’s Square, Manchester. A spokesperson from HL Jeans told us, “It’s great to be involved in this city’s biggest outdoor festival, with great bands and venues in and around The Northern Quarter. This association breathes life into our Jeans Collection and we’re delighted we can do this whilst supporting our home city!”
